Kentucky Derby Live: Online Viewing Info for 2013 Extravaganza
Horse racing isn't always at the forefront of the sports world, but the first weekend in May is always an exception, when the action at the Kentucky Derby overtakes even the biggest headlines.
Odds have been changing by the day at Churchill Downs, where we're sure to see one of the most even competitive fields in the Run for the Roses in some time. Much of that is due to a forecast for heavy rain, which is sure to shake up the track and make things quite difficult for the 19 horses.
Whoever gallops to victory will set their eyes next on the elusive Triple Crown, which hasn't been achieved since Affirmed did so in 1978.
Let's take a look at everything you need to know to view the Derby online or on your television, as well as the starting lineup and horses who have the best shot at victory.
Where: Churchill Downs, Louisville, Ky.

Contenders
Orb – 7-1
Once pegged as the surefire favorite to take the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby with 7-2 odds, Orb now has fallen behind Goldencents and Revolutionary. But his race-day odds still show a great possibility that Orb could take the whole thing.
With the leadership of Claude "Shug" McGaughey III, Orb will undoubtedly be ready for the subpar weather conditions. He's also won four straight races heading into Churchill Downs. But his form throughout his racing career doesn't indicate he'll be a huge favorite.
With no clear favorite this year, Orb is one of many horses who have the ability to steal the spotlight and sprint to glory Saturday.
Revolutionary – 5-1
There are many reasons for Revolutionary's late-week surge to tie Goldencents atop the favorites, but perhaps the biggest one is his ability to handle the rainy environment best.
Popular trainer Todd Pletcher, who has five horses and two big contenders in Saturday's race, told USA Today's Gary Mihoces he felt Revolutionary was best set to face a wet track and excel out of all of his horses—which includes once-favorite Verrazano.
Revolutionary comes into Churchill Downs having won his last three races, and has finished in the money in all six of his appearances.
It also doesn't hurt that jockey and three-time derby winner Calvin Borel will be riding him, and that he's starting in the No. 3 spot, which will allow him to assume his place among the favorites early on.
Goldencents – 7-1
Louisville national championship head coach Rick Pitino is far from the only good luck charm Goldencents possesses heading into the 139th Run for the Roses.
The leadership of trainer Doug O'Neill should pay dividends for the crowd favorite. O'Neill was the trainer for I'll Have Another's epic 2012 run, which nearly ended in a Triple Crown and captivated the sports world more than any horse in recent memory.
It's awfully tough to find a hole in Goldencents' racing ability. He's great coming out of the gates, but also has a knack to save his best for the final stretch and doesn't fade through the middle.
Perhaps the fame surrounding Goldencents has played a part in him getting 7-1 odds, but it's his lack of a true weakness that will have him in the running coming down the stretch.
Normandy Invasion – 8-1
Normandy Invasion hasn't been talked about very much in the past week, and for a good reason. The thoroughbred has only won one of his five career races.
But the trait that has allowed Normandy Invasion to greatly improve his odds is the massive potential he brings. His second-place finish at the Grade 1 Wood Memorial, where he finished behind Verrazano.
Normandy Invasion also has shown great pace late in races, which is a huge key for the long, 1 1/4-mile track that most horses aren't accustomed to.
The likelihood of a slow pace also helps out his cause. If the pack is running mostly together, Normandy Invasion will be ready to use his late push for victory.
Verrazano – 9-1
It's unusual to say the least that we see a horse fall from a co-favorite early in the week to having just 11-1 odds on race day. That's what Verrazano is dealing with right now.
However, the decreased odds might have bettors flocking toward him due to the great value he now has.
However, starting at the No. 14 spot, it won't be easy for Verrazano to push toward the top of the pack early on and he'll have to save his best for last. That will be tough for a thoroughbred who has only been in four career races.
