The 5 Superstars with the Most to Lose at WrestleMania
John Cena has his pride.
The Rock has the WWE title.
Alberto Del Rio is in the same type of boat, with a slipping grasp on the world heavyweight title.
Even Tons of Funk are currently fighting for increased exposure, if they are able to pull off a victory alongside the Funkadactyls over Team Rhodes Scholars and the Bella Twins.
And finally, Triple H has his career on the line.
These are all high-stakes situations, but they are all obvious in their nature. There are five other individuals with perhaps much more than a simple win or loss on the line. These men could possibly be made or broken by their performance at the biggest wrestling event of the year, WrestleMania XXIX.
5. The Undertaker
1 of 5It goes without saying that a 20-0 streak is impressive. The Undertaker has built himself a legacy that will likely never be duplicated.
However, he has also backed himself into a corner, and each and every year, the stakes get higher.
With more than foolish pride on the line this year, he fights not only for the streak but for fallen manager William "Paul Bearer" Moody, who passed away last month.
In addition, this year he faces opposition like he has never faced before in former WWE champion CM Punk. And love him or hate him, Punk is a ring general who can carry any match.
That includes this encounter with the 48-year-old Undertaker.
With injuries reducing his in-ring time to practically zero, will 'Taker have enough in the tank to deliver yet another win at WrestleMania?
Or will Punk finally get the respect he so desperately seeks to etch his place in WrestleMania history by ending 'Taker's legendary streak?
4. Jack Swagger
2 of 5From the beginning of his WWE career, a lot has been expected of Jack Swagger.
And though he has tasted championship glory in the past, the fact that he has not had a long-term world title run has led many to label him an overall bust.
His feud with Alberto Del Rio looked to have all the makings of impending glory for Swagger until recently. Many are now wondering if Swagger's recent arrest might derail any shot that he had at winning the world heavyweight title.
Swagger has a great look and is without question one of the top-echelon athletes in the company right now.
His shortcoming has always been his mic skills, which the company immediately fixed when they brought in Zeb Colter, the former "Dirty" Dutch Mantell and one of the best talkers in wrestling history, to manage him. But Swagger still manages to flub his one or two lines per promo and lessen the effect of Colter's harsh lines. He would do himself a huge favor if he never spoke into a microphone and simply let his in-ring performances speak for themselves.
And if he doesn't leave WrestleMania with the title firmly in his grasp, where does Swagger go from there? If Del Rio is able to repel his threats, can Swagger continue this gimmick with lesser foreign competitors like Sin Cara or even Santino Marella?
Time will tell on that one.
3. Ryback
3 of 5At the moment, Ryback is in an odd predicament.
The rousing cheers that he was hearing only a few shorts months ago have died down, and he is no longer viewed as the unstoppable monster that he once was.
His feud with fellow powerhouse Mark Henry has been met with a lukewarm reaction, though his feats of strength during his weightlifting competition with Henry were impressive.
And let's be honest here, the man is not going to set the world ablaze with his wrestling ability. He is a bruising competitor through and through. A win over Henry on the wrestling world's biggest stage could be a step in the right direction for him.
However, a loss could be interesting, since he could then turn heel and turn his back on the fans who have stopped cheering for him of late.
2. The Miz
4 of 5The Miz certainly thinks that he is awesome—there's no doubt about that.
However, in recent months, he has continued to fall short in his pursuit of gold, first to United States champion Antonio Cesaro and then to intercontinental titleholder Wade Barrett.
No stranger to having a title around his waist, The Miz has seen his career hit peaks and valleys in recent months, with Ric Flair himself bestowing his patented figure-four leglock on The Miz.
The triple-crown winner has failed to win the tough matches against Cesaro and Barrett, even though he almost always comes out looking good in the process.
How much longer will he have to wait to taste championship glory again?
And more importantly, without a big title-winning victory, how much longer will the WWE Universe continue to buy into thinking The Miz is as good as he says he is?
1. Dolph Ziggler
5 of 5Ziggler has been in possession of the Money in the Bank briefcase since July, and with the exception of a few halfhearted attempts to cash it in, he has done absolutely nothing with the opportunity.
What better way to make an impact than to cash that contract in on the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania?
Ziggler has every tool necessary to be a long-term solution to the shortage of viable championship material currently on the WWE roster.
He is still young, has a great look and is among the most disciplined and talented in-ring performers that the company currently has.
And as good as his alliance with AJ and Big E. Langston has been in the past, the duo is holding him back. Or at the very least, preventing him from doing bigger and better things.
It had long been speculated that Ric Flair was possibly being brought in to mentor Ziggler, who would be groomed as a champion of the present and future. However, part of that gimmick seems to have gone to The Miz, leaving Ziggler to tread water within the company right now.
The company threw him a proverbial bone by putting him and Langston in a tag team title match with Team Hell No, but they are weak challengers, despite Langston's impressive physical domination of the champs on Raw.
In any event, time seems to be running out for Ziggler, and if he doesn't cash in that briefcase soon, we might soon see him fall even farther down the talent ladder.
