Lukas Fabianski Is Not All to Blame, What about Useless Silvestre?
Arsenal tasted a recent rare sensation of defeat, as Chelsea ruined the Gunners hopes of making the FA Cup final and dismissed their best chance of winning a trophy in four years.
Two soft goals, in which stand in keeper Lukas Fabianski should have done better, were a great deal better. Arsenal took the lead early on, threw some impressive build up play and superb crosses from teenager Kieran Gibbs. The cross sat up nicely for winger Theo Walcott, which enabled him to drill the ball via a slight deflection into the bottom corner.
The lead lasted just over fifteen minutes.

Lazy marking let over rated winger Florent Malouda pounce on a cross and slot it into the the near post. Fabianski, who had evidently come down with a case of serious nerves, was slow on the dive and was beaten at his near post. A place a keeper should never be beaten.
For a further fifty-two minutes, the game was played mostly in the middle of the park with a few half chances here and there. But just as the game looked destined for extra time and a superb long ball, in which a useless and lazy Silvestre failed to keep a hold of Didier Drogba who found himself one on one with Polish man Lukas Fabianski thirty yards from goal.
A brain implosion or a rush of blood made the deputy Gunner charged out of the box and inches away from the Ivorian striker.
Fabianski's charge from the goaline meant the only thing he could do was bring Drogba down which inevitably would of resulted in Fabianski taking an early shower. All Drogba had to do was beat the keeper and calmly place the ball into an open net. He did just that.
Fabianski may have been at fault but many fail to notice that Mikeal Silvestre was utterly useless in preventing Drogba from getting control of the ball.
As soon as Drogba had managed to find the ball at his feet, the Frenchmen gave up allowing Drogba to be one on one with Fabianski.
Silvestre, who was a shock buy by Wenger in the September transfer window, really should not be at a club like Arsenal or even West Bromwhich Albion.
The 32-year-old was only participating in the FA Cup final due to the increasing amount of defensive injuries suffered by the Gunners. If the likes of Johan Djourou and William Gallas were not on the injury table, Silvestre would have failed to even make the bench.
Also, Arsenal could have had the potential of two penalties, but referee Mark Atkinkson was under the impression that players were allowed to push other players in the back whilst in the box.
