Wrestlemania 29: When and Where to Watch WWE's Biggest Pay-Per-View

Tyler ConwayJun 8, 2018

There is no bigger event in sports entertainment than WrestleMania, and the WWE is pulling out all the stops to make sure the 29th iteration is its most successful and profitable yet.

With a card that is adorned with some of the biggest names in WWE history past and present and a plethora of top-tier storylines, the creative team may actually pull it off. The Rock will be taking on John Cena for the second time in as many WrestleManias, Triple H will be defending his entire career and The Undertaker will make his yearly dalliance inside the squared circle to defend his streak.

Here is the fun part: All three of those big names are competing in just three of the nine matches currently on the card. Jack Swagger and Alberto del Rio will compete for the World Heavyweight Championship, and The Shield will put its undefeated streak on the line against its toughest opponents yet.

Overall, it's a card that should be a classic in name value alone. Will the matches live up to the hype? That remains to be seen, but it's also exactly why you have to catch every minute of next Sunday's action.

With that in mind, here is a complete breakdown of when and where you can watch WrestleMania 29.

Event Information

When: Sunday, April 7, at 7 p.m. ET

Where: MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Watch: Check your cable provider (helpful list here, via WWE.com)

Can The Rock Retain the WWE Championship vs. John Cena?

For the second time in as many years, two of the biggest names in WWE history will headline the sport's preeminent event. This time, though, the stakes have been raised to even loftier heights, as The Rock will defend his first WWE Championship in a decade against bitter rival John Cena.

Much like their previous bout, the anticipation is palpable for wrestling fans worldwide. These are two massive names in the sport's history, gladiators whose in-ring accomplishments can be placed against any superstar in history. Even if it is a rehashing of the same bout as last year, the storyline is different.

What's arguably changed the most over these past 12 months is the relationship between The Rock and Cena. Once contentious bitter enemies with only cursory acknowledgement of each other's place in history, The Rock and Cena have gathered quite a bit of respect for one another since their bout at WrestleMania 28. They have battled alongside each other versus both CM Punk and The Big Show, giving their feud more of an Undertaker-Triple H feel than before.

Nevertheless, the level of competition will not fade from the first time out. The Rock and Cena are both legendary competitors who put their heart and soul on the line every time they set foot in the ring.

WrestleMania is a spectacle. It's an event built for greatness and ascendant performances. The Rock and Cena are two of the greatest performers in history. They will put together a guaranteed pantheon match, which is exactly why The Rock will not win next Sunday.

What better way to set up a possible third bout than to have Cena capture the WWE Championship from The Rock and set up a rubber match next April? With The Rock also having his busy movie schedule, there is very little storyline reason for him to come out victorious.

Prediction: Cena wins

Will The Undertaker's Streak Finally End vs. CM Punk?

Depending on your perspective, CM Punk's villainy is currently at an all-time high or all-time low heading into WrestleMania. Already setting up for a historic bout between two of the most iconic and dark figures in wrestling history, the writer's room decided to take it up another level following the passing of William Moody, who is better known as Paul Bearer.

Keeping Bearer's urn in his possession, Punk has antagonized the "Deadman" to a degree that arguably has not been touched since the introduction of Kane. Mocking the whole situation and the urn's power over The Undertaker, this storyline has caused come controversy due to the timing and taste of it all.

To me, it all feels a little icky. I imagine the WWE would not besmirch Moody or the Bearer character without the permission of his family, but there are some things better left alone.

Nevertheless, it's created an intriguing subplot that will undoubtedly have The Undertaker motivated to abjectly destroy CM Punk. WWE historians will tell you there has never been a better WrestleMania performer than The Undertaker—as if his 20 straight wins were not proof enough already—and this situation will only lead to an even more captivating performance.

Expect tightrope walking, Tombstones, chokeslams, Hell's Gates and the whole nine yards from The Undertaker next Sunday. CM Punk is arguably the company's biggest star at this point, so they'll let him have his two-and-three-quarters-count semi-victories throughout the match.

But make no mistake: The Undertaker will win...because he always wins at WrestleMania. This is a streak that will never and probably should never end.

Prediction: The Undertaker Wins

Will Brock Lesnar Force Triple H into Retirement?

Since re-joining the WWE last April, Brock Lesnar has been little more than a thorn in the company's side. He's feuded with some of the biggest names in the sport, including Cena and The Miz, but his biggest battles have been with WWE management.

While the controversial superstar has attacked Vince McMahon and threatened other members of the family, his main feud has been with Triple H. Lesnar has snapped the WWE chief operating officer's arm on two separate occasions, one of which came at Triple H's last sanctioned bout at SummerSlam.

Triple H's loss in August made many—including himself—wonder about his future. He gave a speech on the Aug. 27 edition of Raw that left his in-ring future very much up in the air and then took mostly a background role for the remainder of 2012.

We may very well get to find out Triple H's in-ring future conclusively next Sunday. Following his hiatus—presumably meant give him time to heal from his injuries suffered at Lesnar's hands—Triple H made a triumphant return to defend his father-in-law from an attack by Lesnar in February. He subsequently challenged the former UFC Heavyweight Champion to a bout at WrestleMania, which Lesnar accepted with only one condition: Triple H retires if he loses.

While Triple H may never return to his weekly in-ring appearances, this doesn't seem like the scenario where he'll go out permanently. Lesnar has had the upper hand in this rivalry almost from the jump, and a WWE superstar as great as Triple H isn't about to retire broken at the hands of another man.

Look for Triple H to pull out the sledgehammer once or 17 times as he finally gets over the hump versus Lesnar.

Prediction: Triple H wins
