B/R Fantasy NASCAR: Week 2 (Fontana)

Christopher OlmsteadJun 6, 2018

This is week No. 2 of the B/R Fantasy NASCAR series.

The point of the series is to assemble and manage the most successful B/R NASCAR fantasy team.

In this article, I will outline the rules for this series. Anyone who wants to participate is more than welcome. The series will run the length of the NASCAR season.

That being said, those who participate early and often will have the best chances to win.

The prize, of course, will be bragging rights, because that's all I have to offer.

Rules and Scoring

1 of 6

Rules

  1. Every week, each participant will be allowed to assemble their own B/R Fantasy NASCAR Team by using their bank of 100 points. There is a limit of six drivers per team. There isn't a minimum number of drivers required per team.
  2. Every NASCAR driver will be assigned a special point value. This value will be based on their overall season performance and will fluctuate based on their in-season performance. An updated roster with current points will be posted in each new article of the series.
  3. Once you have decided who you want on your team, you will comment on the article. The comment that you make will be your official entry. The comment should include the names of the drivers you selected as well as their point value. It's 100 percent up to each reader to make sure they spend their points accurately.
  4. Each reader may only submit one entry. If a reader submits multiple entries, they will be disqualified for that week.
  5. If an entry has more than six drivers or exceeds the allotted amount of points, that entry will be disqualified.
  6. When you comment on the article, I will be using your B/R name as your team name. If you do not want you B/R name used, please include your real name with your comment.
  7. Essentially the reader's job is easy. All you have to do is make a team consisting up to six drivers and comment on the article so I know who is on your team. Everything else is pretty much up to me.
  8. All entries must be on the article by 9 a.m. ET on race day. Any late entries will not be counted. There will be no exceptions.

Scoring

The scoring is going to be fairly simple. With a simple scoring format, I will be able to update the leader board quickly and easily.

  • 50 points - If your driver wins the race.
  • 40 points - If your driver finishes in the top three.
  • 30 points - If your driver finishes in the top five
  • 20 points - If your driver finishes in the top ten.
  • 10 points - If your driver leads the most laps.
  • 5 points - If your driver finishes outside the top ten, but on the lead lap.
  • 5 points - If your driver finishes dead last (43rd position).
  • 5 points - If your driver leads a lap.

I will also award bonus points for each entry (add these to your entry if you want).

  • 20 points - If you correctly predict the number of cautions in the race.
  • 20 points - If you correctly predict the number of lead changes in the race.
  • 20 points - If you correctly predict the number of different leaders in the race.

Please Note

5 of 6

If you keep a driver on your team from Week 1 to Week 2, that driver will cost what you paid for them in Week 1.

For example:

  • Kasey Kahne cost was 35 points in Week 1 but now it's 40 points here in Week 2. If you had Kahne Week 1 and wish to keep him, he would only count as 35 points out of your bank. If he wasn't on your team last week he would cost 40 points to add.
  • The same goes for a driver losing value. In Week 1 Jeff Gordon cost 35 points, he is now only worth 30 points. If you had him Week 1 and keep him for Week 2, it will cost your bank 35 points.

Also, no player this week was correctly able to guess the correct amount of cautions flags, lead changes or total leaders. Therefore no extra points were awarded this week.

Conclusion

6 of 6

If you would like to participate, make sure you comment to get your entries in.

Jerry Jackson had a strong week, but we are still early in the game.

Do you have any questions or suggestions to improve the format? If you do, feel free to let me know.

Good luck and spend your points wisely.
