LSU Football: Post-Combine NFL Draft Stock Watch
The NFL combine is a time for scouts, coaches and all talent evaluators from the NFL to come together and see college football's top draft-eligible players on display.
Keep your eyes and ears open for former LSU Tigers being selected in this year's draft, as there should be plenty of them.
But how did the likes of Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery and Tharold Simon perform at this year's combine?
What about former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu?
Let's go ahead and break down every former LSU player and take a look at whether their stock took a boost or a hit after this year's NFL combine.
Bleacher Report style!
Lavar Edwards
1 of 11The Good: 40-yard dash (4.80), Broad Jump (119")
The Bad: None
Outlook: Lavar Edwards isn't a household name because he spent the majority of his college career playing behind Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo.
However, this kid has good size, a good motor and he had a really solid showing at the combine. In fact, Edwards finished in the top-12 defensive linemen performers in every event he competed in at the combine testing.
Stock Watch: Up
Chris Faulk
2 of 11The Good: Size (6'5", 331 pounds)
The Bad: Injury
Outlook: Chris Faulk made a questionable decision when he declared early for the NFL draft after missing the 2012 season with an injury.
Because of the injury, Faulk was only able to participate in one combine event, the bench press. He put up 25 reps, which isn't great for his massive size, but it isn't bad.
His showing at the combine didn't help his stock, but the real reason Faulk's stock isn't as high as it could be right now is because of his knee injury.
Stock: Down
Michael Ford
3 of 11The Good: 40-yard dash (4.50), Vertical Jump (38.5 inches), Broad Jump (130 inches), 60-yard shuttle (11.43 sec.)
The Bad: Nothing
Outlook: Ford was another guy who made a questionable decision to leave school early for the NFL, but he had a great showing at the combine.
Ford was a top performer in just about every event he participated in. He even put up 25 reps on the bench press, which was tied for the seventh-best among running backs.
In fact, Ford's combine showing might have brought him from a potential undrafted free agent to a possible mid-round selection.
Stock: Up
Bennie Logan
4 of 11The Good: Bench Press (30 reps)
The Bad: Vertical Jump (25"), Broad Jump (104")
Outlook: Logan showed strength in the bench press, putting up 30 reps, which ranked fifth among defensive linemen. However, that was the only category he shined in.
Logan is supposed to be considered a somewhat athletic defensive tackle prospect, but his leaping ability and speed drills showed that he is anything but athletic.
This is a kid who probably fell into the middle rounds after his showing here.
Stock: Down
P.J. Lonergan
5 of 11The Good: Nothing
The Bad: 40-yard dash (5.38 sec.)
Outlook: Lonergan had a short workout at the combine, only taking place in the bench press and the 40-yard dash.
The talented center put up 25 reps on the bench, which is pretty average for his size and position. It's nothing that's going to make or break his draft status in any way.
Lonergan had a poor showing in the 40-yard dash, but again, that isn't going to make or break his stock, especially because his position requires little speed, if any.
Stock: Same
Tyrann Mathieu
6 of 11The Good: Three-cone drill (6.87 sec.), 20-yard shuttle (4.14 sec.)
The Bad: Bench Press (4)
Outlook: Well, we know that Tyrann Mathieu isn't going to be winning any World's Strongest Man contests any time soon. His showing on the bench press was rather pathetic, but that isn't going to greatly alter his draft stock.
What was important was that Mathieu showed good speed, running a 4.5 40-yard dash and excelling in the three-cone drill and the shuttle runs.
Mathieu's draft stock really took a hit after missing this past season, so if anything, this combine probably helped his stock.
Stock: Up
Barkevious Mingo
7 of 11The Good: Everything
The Bad: Nothing
Outlook: Mingo was an absolute beast at the combine this past week.
He was among the top performers for his position in every drill he competed in, including running a 4.58 40-yard dash, which is just freakish for a defensive end.
Mingo was a first-round lock to begin with, but his impressive showing this past week at the combine probably moved him up to the top-10 range.
Stock: Up
Kevin Minter
8 of 11The Good: Vertical Jump (33"), Broad Jump (119")
The Bad: Nothing
Outlook: Minter had a pretty solid showing at the NFL combine this past week. He really didn't do anything spectacular, but he was average-to-good in all of his testing.
This is a pretty weak draft class when it comes to middle linebackers, so that alone should help Minter be an early-to-mid-round draft selection.
Stock: Same
Sam Montgomery
9 of 11The Good: Vertical Jump (34.5)
The Bad: Nothing
Outlook: Montgomery is another top-notch defensive end prospect who should be a first-round draft selection.
The issue on Montgomery is his motor. Does he go all out every play, every game?
If he can convince scouts that he will do so at the next level, then this kid certainly has the talent to be an impact defensive end at the NFL level.
Stock: Same
Eric Reid
10 of 11The Good: 40-yard dash (4.53), Vertical Jump (40.5 inches), Broad Jump (134 inches)
The Bad: Nothing
Outlook: Reid is the ideal player an NFL team should want at the safety position.
The former LSU All-American was among the leaders at his position in every drill he participated in at the combine. He has great speed, strength and is one heck of a hitter from the safety position.
There is no doubt that Eric Reid is a first-round talent. It's just a matter of what team has a need at the safety position early on in the draft.
Stock: Same
Tharold Simon
11 of 11The Good: Broad Jump (128 inches)
The Bad: Bench Press (9 reps)
Outlook: Tharold Simon is another guy who probably needed another year in college to improve his technique and skills before heading to the NFL.
This is a kid who has good speed, but isn't that strong and still needs to work on his game before he is ready for that next step. He showed that speed off at the combine with a 4.5 40-yard dash and showed off his athleticism as well with a 128" broad jump.
His showing really didn't change his draft status as Simon is likely to be a mid-range draft selection.
