Tournament Stats:  Avg. score of 4.03, 0 eagles, 39 birdies, 111 pars, 39 bogeys, 3 DB Plus.

Hole No. 15 (Par 5 530 Yards, Firethorn)

2:40: Threesome of Jose Maria Olazabal, Martin Kaymer and Brandt Snedeker is the first not to have anyone go for the green in two.

2:45: Chad Campbell birdies No. 18 to shoot 70 to follow his 65 and establish his mark at 9-under par half way through the 2009 Masters. Five birdie, three bogey, plus-1 on back nine non[-Sunday round.

2:48: Kenny Perry alone in second place hits his second shot barely through the green and will have a delicate chip for eagle. Perfect chip and taps-in for birdie to get within one stroke of the lead with three holes to play.

2:59: Rory McIlroy eagles No. 13 to get to 4-under for the day and tournament and is tied for sixth place.

3:05: Tiger Woods tees off on 15 at even par for the day with two birdies and two bogeys. He stands at 2-under in a tie for 13th place. Since his fourth Masters win in 2005 Woods has finished T3, T2, and 2nd alone at Augusta National.

3:08: Danny Lee, US Amateur champion misses an eagle chip and the 10-footer coming back. He is all over the map today after eagling No. 8, birdying No. 9 and a nine at the par-4 tenth hole. With double bogeys on Nos. 12 and 14 he is ten over par on the back nine through six holes.

3:09: Angel Cabrera birdies No. 4 to go to 5-under and is tied for fifth place with Jim Furyk.

3:17: After Tiger Woods iron second shot is slightly long he is chipping for eagle from the first cut 30 feet from the hole. His tap-in birdie gets him to 3-under and tied for eighth place.

3:22: Anthony Kim who has nine birdies in the first 14 holes is at 5-under par for the day and tied for thirteenth place. His playing partner Rory McIlroy is a little cooler at 3-under today. Kim reaches the green in two from 225 yards. McIlroy goes long but chips it back masterfully. Kim two putts for his tenth birdie of the day and ties the Masters record held by Nick Price from the third round in 1986. All three including the Tiger Woods of Japan Ryo Ishikawa birdies the hole.

3:44: Projected cut is plus-1 with 52 players looking to play the weekend at this point in time.

3:46: Billy Mayfair drains a 20-footer for only the fifth eagle today with the first four coming in the first six groups.

4:00: Kenny Perry birdies No. 18 to complete a bogey-free 5-under 67 and matches Chad Campbell’s  9-under lead in the clubhouse. Furyk, Cabrera and Hamilton are three strokes back.

4:09: Realization that conditions have deteriorated through the day- only four eagles on No. 15 and all came in first six pairings.

4:17: Vijay Singh birdies No. 9 to get to 4-under par and is tied for sixth place

4:30: Sandy Lyle, the 1988 Masters Champion birdies No. 17 for his fifth consecutive birdie. He is now 3-under and tied for ninth place. His swing coach is Binghamton, New York native Todd Jones the Head Instructor at the PGA Tour Academy at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, N.Y. Looks like the good-looking young Jones will be enjoying a weekend on site in Augusta, Georgia.

4:36: Nick Watney at 3-under hits a 6-iron second shot over the green.

4:54: Anthony Kim finishes with a birdie on No. 18 to card eleven for the day and set a new Masters record for the most in a single round. His playing and paying (if they had a side wager) Rory McIlroy finished with a triple bogey seven at No. 18 after 4-putting the par-3 16th hole. Rory will likely make the cut at plus-1.

4:58: Dustin Johnson makes a 10-footer for eagle at No. 15- the first eagle since Rocco Mediate in the sixth group of the day almost

5:13: Sandy Lyle bogeys No. 18 but finishes at minus-2. Todd is staying for the weekend and hopefully buying a few drinks for other Binghamtonians.

5:14: As Shingo Katayama’s ball sails over the 15thgreen, Direct TV analyst and 4-time PGA TOUR winner Billy Kratzert comments that he can not recall so many balls going over the 15thgreen like he has seen today. Katayama chips twice and putts twice to record his second bogey today and drop to 3-under.

5:17: Angel Cabrera birdies No. 13 to get to 7-under and sole third place behind Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry.

5:24: Cabrera birdies No. 14 to go to 8-under and one stroke behind Campbell and Perry.

5:36: Jim Furyk bogeys No. 12 to go plus-2 for the day and is now T6 for the tournament.

5:41: Cabrera telegraphs the 15th green on his third shot from the right pine trees. He fails to get it up-and-down and bogeys to fall two strokes behind the leaders in the clubhouse.

5:58: Padraig Harrington is on the pine straw after a wayward tee shot right of No. 15 fairway. With a lofted club it looks like he will be laying up short of the water. Harrington wedges up to within 10 feet of the hole and has a good chance for birdie. He took three practice strokes then moved in and grounded his putter.

Harrington backs off after the wind gusts and the ball rolls a foot further down the slope. The Rules Official comes out is it a penalty or simply replace the ball? Mickelson in the group behind is sitting on the fairway on a towel doing yoga like stretching exercise. Harrington replaces the ball and makes the putt, incurs a penalty stroke and makes par.

6:02: Projected cut is plus-1 with 49 players looking to make it to the weekend at this moment in time.

6:03: Reiner Saxton bogeys No. 17 and birdies No. 18 to finish at plus-3 missing the cut but securing the low amateur hardware at the Masters. He will be hanging around for the weekend and appearing in the Butler Cabin with the eventual champion, Chairman Billy Payne and sportscaster Jim Nantz of CBS Sports. What a thrill!

6:22: Mickelson from 183 yards covers the flagstick but it flies too far landing over the green and rolling down the slope. Mickelson throws his hand up and lowers them clenching his head with his hands thinking it was a perfect shot. It nearly was.

Mickelson full swing flop shot is nearly perfect too leaving a three footer for birdie. Mickelson knocks it in for the four. Now he is 2-under and tied for 17th. Tiger is at  2-under and tied for 17th. No rivalry there so they say.

6:27: Furyk has a similar play as Mickelson except he layed up and was over the green in three strokes. Jim with his designed in “back off once” putting routine drains the eight footer to save par.

6:33: Sergio Garcia in the last group of the day hits he second shot on the green and has a 50-foot putt for eagle possibly the sixth one of the day on No. 15. There was only one eagle by Luke Donald yesterday. Garcia two-putts and records a birdie four.

6:42: Appleby taps in for his birdie at No. 15 to get to the cut line at plus-1. Even par the last three holes will enable him to play the weekend. For the leader on Sunday it could very well mean a green jacket.

Tournament Stats:  Avg. score of 4.61, 6 eagles, 85 birdies, 80 pars, 20 bogeys and 1 DB- rank of 18th most difficult (easiest).

Friday Stats:           Avg. score of 4.57, 5 eagles, 43 birdies, 36 pars, 12 bogeys and 0 DB- rank of 18th most difficult (easiest).

Hole No. 16 (Par 3 155 Yards, Redbud)

3:23: Tiger Woods tees off on No. 16. The more difficult hole location has allowed only four birdies today: from Baddeley, Casey, Allenby and Newman. No, not Newman from Seinfeld. Jack Newman from Colorado the US Amateur Public Links champion. Tiger leaves his birdie putt four feet short but makes par. Cink makes his putt for the fifth deuce of the day.

3:47: McIlroy four putts for double bogey on No. 16 to fall back to 2-under and a T14 place.

3:50: Chez Reavie almost holes out on No. 16 for the sixth birdie of the day.

4:05: Sandy Lyle makes it for the seventh birdie of the day.

4:21: Dudley Hart hits the green near the hole but it releases down the slope to the hole location of yesterday. A good shot yesterday is not so good today and a possible 3-putt bogey. Even with the shorter yardage today the hole is playing more difficult due to the swirling wind and hole location. What a difference a day makes.

4:32: Reiner Saxton the British Amateur champion from Holland bogeys the hole to fall to plus-3. He is low amateur at this point but only by one stroke over US Public Links champion who is finished playing golf today. The other three amateurs have also finished: US Amateur Runner-Up Drew Kittleson at plus-6; US Mid-Amateur champion Steve Wilson at plus-10 and US Amateur champion Danny Lee at plus-11 who shot a disastrous 47 on the back nine today.

4:44: Fuzzy Zoeller in his last Masters hits an 8-iron to eight feet and excites the crowd and his daughter Gretchen on the bag. Will he make the putt for the eighth deuce of the day? Yes he can! Gets a high five from his daughter.

5:10: Rory Sabbatini birdies No. 16 for the ninth deuce of the day. This hole is cumalatively ranked as the sixth hardest after being the tenth yesterday. It will be one of the toughest holes of the day today.

5:36: The pond at No. 16 is mirror-like. The swirling wind of the afternoon is transitioning to a calmness of the evening as we approach 6 PM in the east. There were 24 birdies yesterday and only nine so far today.

5:43: Lee Westwood deuces No. 16 for third birdie in last four holes. He is now 2-under par and tied for 15th place.

5:56: Justin Rose holes a magnificent sand shot out of the short right bunker on No. 16. With very little green to work with the gentle shot hit softly and rolled into the hole for the 11th deuce today.

6:45: Sergio Garcia’s tee shot on No. 16 hits the top of the flagstick almost getting caught up in it. He is yelling “down, down, down.”  His birdie chip-putt of 15 feet rolls nicely into the hole. Appleby also deuces it from inside 10 feet for the 13th and last deuce of the day.

6:55: With play finished for the day on No. 16; it yields about 50 percent of the birdies from Thursday’s total of 24.

Tournament Stats:  Avg. score of 3.13, 37 birdies, 101 pars, 46 bogeys and 8 DBs- rank of ninth most difficult.

Friday Stats:           Avg. score of 3.22, 13 birdies, 54 pars, 24 bogeys and 5 DBs- rank of sixth most difficult.
