Kansas City Hopes To Get Back To Winning Ways.
It looks like the Royals are ready to compete in what looks to be a wide open AL Central. They have great talent from the top of the lineup to the bottom. Kevin Seitzer has brought a new approach to these players, and so far this spring, it has helped.
Coco Crisp - He has great speed and knows how to get on base. He is a very patient hitter at the plate. He brings a winning attitude to the clubhouse, and veteran leadership. He knows what it takes to win, and can play outstanding defense.
Mike Aviles - After playing an outstanding rookie season, he played in only 102 games hitting .325 with 10 HR's, everyone is waiting to see what he can do over a full season. He should definitely be an important piece of the Royals lineup. He makes good contact and has average power.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
David Dejesus - Dejesus enjoyed career highs in home runs, rbi and BA last season. He looks to repeat his numbers again in '09. Dejesus had a 417 ARSP. After dropping to the three hole, his RBI numbers could sky rocket.
Jose Guillen - Although he was playing through injuries, he was able to put up solid numbers last season. Guillen hit 20 HR's and 97 RBI. If Guillen stays healthy in '09 his numbers could be a bit better. He also has protection in the lineup.
Mike Jacobs - Had a breakout season in '08, and looks to keep things going in '09. He hit 32 HR's, and has got the pop the Royals were looking for. As long as the top of the lineup gets on the way they should, he should have no problem picking up RBI.
Billy Butler - He can just flat out rake. After getting off to a bad start in '08, Butler was sent to Omaha. Once he was called back up, he put up solid numbers across the board hitting 11 HR's after the All-Star Break. If he can play to his potental, Butler could easily hit over .290-.300. He could also hit around 20 homers.
Alex Gordon - He now has two full seasons under his belt, and has put up average numbers. Last year he hit 16 homers. If he continues to improve, and live up to the hype of being the next George Brett, he could add some pop to the lineup.
Mark Teahen - After having a terrific season in '07, he hasn't been able to put up those numbers since. He now has competition to start, and he may be able to return to his '07 form. He has had a terrific spring hitting .462 with 7 HR's. I know spring does not always mean anything, but if he can continue hitting like that during the regular season, he should have a great year.
Miguel Olivo - Olivo had to share time behind the plate last season with John Buck, and he still hit 12 HR's. Olivo has been promised the starting job, and could produce very well for the number nine guy in the lineup.
So far this spring, the Royals are leading the majors in Home Runs with 52. If they can carry that into the regular season, look for the Royals to become a serious contender in the AL Central.
