The Detroit Tigers Are Screwed
The 2009 Detroit Tigers are screwed. It's as simple as that.
Dontrelle Willis has an "anxiety disorder," Gary Sheffield is gone, and Zach Miner made the rotation. There aren't many, if at all, bright spots on Detroit's 2009 lineup. I mean, think about it.
General Manager Dave Dombrowski has wasted, yes wasted, almost $90 million on pitchers that either won't be on the active roster, or in the rotation by Opening Day 2009. Willis and his $29 million contract will be on the Disabled List, along with Jeremy Bonderman's $38 million contract.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
The most painful contract of all has to be Nate Robertson's three-year, $21.75 million contract. Let's just take a quick look of his 2008 season: WHIP-1.660; ERA-6.3; W-L-7-11. Erm, sorry, I just puked in my mouth a little bit.
On the other hand, let's try to think positively. Just two days ago, the Tigers received speedy outfielder Josh Anderson, a practical no-name from the Atlanta Braves for prospects. With his rare speed and amazing glove, I'd say he's a lock for the 25-man roster. Armando Galarraga seems legit, after pitching well in the WBC and in the late spring.
Additionally, with the added gloves in the infield with Gerald Laird, Adam Everett, and the transition back to third base with Brandon Inge, look for the fielding percentage to be one of the best in the American League.
Although as positive as these aspects are, the bad outweigh the good. The Detroit fans are hungry, especially after the magical 2006 World Series run, and the debacle of the 2008 "1000-run team." But don't expect any magic this year, let alone 1000 runs.
