The Return of the Cruiserweight Title
These days we are seeing more and more of the small, high flying type wrestler. They are almost always the underdog, and they usually take the biggest bumps. Most of them can only attain gold in the WWE in the form of tag team or mid card title belts.
To be eligible to compete in the cruiserweight division, a wrestler needs to be a billed weight of 215 pounds (97.5kg) or less.
If you look through the records of both the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships, you'll see that the last time that a cruiserweight wrestler held the WHC was in April 2006 (Mysterio), and no person under the weight of 215 pounds has EVER held the WWE Championship (dating back to '63).

What do these cruiserweights have to aspire to? They need to have a title belt of their own.
Back in the day when a cruiserweight title match was on, you knew that you would see fast-paced wrestling, technical maneuvers and plenty of action!
If the cruiserweight title was brought back from the dead then the following wrestlers would be entitled to compete for it:
- Gregory Helms
- Chavo Guerrero
- Rey Mysterio
- Carlito Colon
- Primo Colon
- Curt Hawkins
- Zack Ryder
- Jimmy Wang Yang
- Brian Kendrick
- Kofi Kingston
- Evan Bourne
- Jamie Noble
- Dolph Ziggler
- Tyson Kidd
Most of the above mentioned superstars haven't been involved in any notable storylines of late, but they are all very good workers and deserve to have their chance to shine.
Chavo is being portrayed as Vickie's messenger boy, Helms has been injury plagued, and Mysterio has been floating around drifting between storylines and thrown into a match with JBL at WM25 at the last moment.
All three of these men are veterans of the cruiserweight division and have had multiple championship reigns.
Kofi, Bourne and both of the Colons have all now established themselves as solid mid-carders that excite the fans with their athleticism and creativity in the ring.
Jamie Noble, Brian Kendrick and Jimmy Wang Yang also have experience in cruiserweight matches but are probably at the top of the list of superstars that Vince is going to let go.
As for Hawkins, Ryder, Kidd, and Ziggler, they would have the chance to excel in a cruiserweight division.
I think that the draft may be influenced if a revival of the cruiserweight division was in the works. A lot of the superstars are already on Smackdown so I believe that in the draft this year you will see Kofi, Bourne, Mysterio, Kidd, and Noble all make the switch to friday nights.
It has been mentioned that Vince wants to turn RAW into the true flagship show of WWE. He could move some of the main eventers (Undertaker, Triple H, Big Show) to RAW without sacrificing the entertainment factor, if the cruiserweight division was to come back.
