Oklahoma State Football: Top 10 Plays of the Season So Far
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have one of the most prolific offensive attacks in the nation and produce jaw-dropping plays week after week.
Scanning through the long list of plays to find just 10 that really stick out is difficult, but not impossible.
Here's a look at the plays we feel are most deserving of the Cowboys' own personal top 10.
An attempt was made to spread the love between offense, defense and special teams. If you're favorite play is missing, that could be why.
That said, if you see any glaring omissions, be sure to sound off in the comments and leave a link if possible below.
10) J.W. Walsh vs. Oklahoma
1 of 10It's tough to put this play on the list, given Oklahoma State ultimately lost the contest.
However, that doesn't make it any less impressive that a freshman scored a big-time TD to put his team ahead in the fourth quarter of a Bedlam road game.
It's not the flashiest play on the list, but it's impressive nonetheless.
9) Quinn Sharp vs. West Virginia
2 of 10Quinn Sharp can do no wrong on the football field.
You would probably assume that this play was just the result of a lucky bounce—and you'd be right—but would you really be surprised if the long-haired wonder didn't use his magical kicking prowess to make that ball bounce the way it did?
The man is simply the best.
8) Desmond Roland vs. Savannah State
3 of 10This play comes from early in the season, from the team's third-string running back.
Desmond Roland produced an absolute gem with this tough run.
He shakes three tackles, including a nasty spin move and gets a TD in the Cowboys' blowout opening game.
7) Justin Gilbert vs. West Virginia
4 of 10Justin Gilbert is always a threat to take it to the house, as you can see on this play.
Gilbert doesn't look like he's about to do much. However, after sizing up the coverage team and lining up some blockers, he explodes down the field for a score.
It's almost comical to watch the kicker try to stop Gilbert.
6) Daytawion Lowe vs. Louisiana-Lafayette
5 of 10In this play, Daytawion Lowe absolutely crushes Louisiana-Lafayette's quarterback, Blaine Gautier.
Gautier never sees him coming and Lowe gets the highlight-reel play.
This is a hit the quarterback felt for the next two or three weeks.
5) James Castleman vs. Texas Tech
6 of 10Whenever a fat man makes an interception, it's going to end up on a top 10 list.
It's just so rare that it can get the crowd roaring louder than almost anything else on the football field.
Plus, if a big old boy like Castleman can pick off Seth Doege, maybe us regular guys have hope too (Spoiler Alert: We don't).
4) Zack Craig vs. Texas Tech
7 of 10Zack Craig had two blocked punts against Texas Tech, but the second block is the play we're interested in.
Craig's display of special teams excellence was one of the best individual efforts on the season and it was great to see him get rewarded with a late touchdown.
It's hard to see this performance being replicated any time soon.
3) Nigel Nicholas vs. TCU
8 of 10You don't often see the Oklahoma State Cowboys defense make the play that wins the team the game, but that's exactly what happens here.
Nigel Nicholas comes up with a huge sack-and-strip of TCU's Trevone Boykin and then recovers the fumble to basically ice the game.
TCU still had a few chances later on, but the game was over when Nicholas came up with the best defensive play of the season.
2) Clint Chelf vs. Texas Tech
9 of 10There were plenty of offensive highlights to pick from in this contest, but this hookup between Clint Chelf and Isaiah Anderson off the flea flicker takes the cake.
This isn't the only flea flicker on the season, as offensive coordinator Todd Monken really opened the playbook with Chelf under center. However, Anderson makes an impressive catch in traffic that takes this play over the top.
1) Joseph Randle vs. Texas
10 of 10Joseph Randle's best game of the season also produced Oklahoma State's best highlight of 2012.
This run has everything you want in a No. 1 highlight.
Randle jukes one Texas defender out of his shoes and then runs over the next guy. He then turns on the afterburners and jets to the end zone for the game's opening touchdown.
The Cowboys would ultimately lose this game, but that doesn't make this play any less incredible.
