Dubai World Championship 2012: 4 Golfers to Watch in Final Round

As the 2012 Dubai World Championship winds down to its final day, it's providing plenty of drama.

Hundreds of golfers descend upon the United Arab Emirates for the final stop of the European Tour in 2012. With three rounds completed, most of the storylines have been played out.

Not too many have a chance to finish at the top, but it's still a tournament saving some excitement for the fourth and final round.

If you're looking to tune in, here are four golfers who should pique your interest.

Rory McIlroy/Luke Donald

These two are tied atop the leaderboard at 17-under. Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald also have a three-shot lead over their closest competition, so the man who's going to lift the trophy is one of these two.

As if that isn't drama enough, this is just a good old-fashioned showdown. McIlroy is ranked No. 1 and Donald is ranked No. 2 in the world. McIlroy has a very high lead on Donald, so a second-place finish here wouldn't mean he loses the top spot.

It's hard to pick these two apart from their performances so far.

Donald won the first round, McIlroy the second, and they were both six-under in the third round.

Louis Oosthuizen

Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel are both tied in third place at 14-under. If anybody is going to steal the title away from McIlroy or Donald, these are the guys who are going to do it.

With such a large distance to make up, they have to hope for mistakes. It's unlikely that two different guys are going to choke away their leads, so you might as well just watch Oosthuizen, the sixth-ranked golfer in the world.

He's never equaled his winning of The Open Championship in 2010, but Oosthuizen also hasn't fallen into obscurity like some of the other surprise winners of major tournaments.

Richard Sterne

He's only in a tie for 51st, but Richard Sterne is a golfer the casual fan should be watching in the final round.

After going two-over in the first two rounds, the South African made a 180-degree turn in the third. He shot a five-under 67 to put him at one-under overall. If he can repeat that performance, Sterne could be looking at a respectable finish and even better payday.

It's always good to watch an underdog shoot above expectations. And with a ranking of 176th, Sterne is that underdog.
