EPL: Grand Slam Sunday
The EPL is into its final stretch. Only eight games remain and tension at the top and bottom of the table is immense.
Personally I feel that this period of games is when England’s Premier League will gain its most fans. With a huge global fanbase already, the world’s most famous league becomes bewitching with almost every team giving 110 percent for their relative cause. Whether it’s fighting to survive the relegation battle or fighting to become champions, anyone who tunes in to watch these last eight games will almost instantly become addicted to the EPL.
This weekend is round 31 of a 38 game season, and is shaping up to be one of the most climactic seasons since it’s inception in 1992. At the bottom of the table there are realistically eight teams in a relegation battle. Derby County are pretty much certs for the drop with only ten points. Then above them are Fulham, Bolton and Birmingham within touching distance of each other and then even Sunderland, Reading, Wigan and Newcastle can’t breath easily just yet, and some may even argue that Middlesboro aren’t totally safe either.

Then at the top end of the table, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are battling for the crown, with Liverpool trying desperately to hold onto their fourth spot, with an inspired Everton side snapping at their heels.
This weekend serves up what we like to call “Grand Slam Sunday” where Man U will play Liverpool, and Arsenal play Chelsea. These are for some people the biggest games of the campaign. With all four teams having something to play for, the matches offer up the greatest entertainment levels for our global viewers.
If results go one way, with United beating Liverpool and Chelsea winning at Arsenal, then Man United would find themselves in a very strong position and five points clear of Chelsea who would leapfrog Arsenal into second place. However if the results go the other way with United losing to Liverpool and Arsenal beating Chelsea, then Arsenal would be level on points with United and Liverpool would move to within three points of Chelsea.
Armchair fans would probably prefer the latter scenario as it would give the most excitement, but as an avid Man United fan I can only hope for a Man United and Chelsea win, pushing us one step closer to retaining the premiership title.
Whatever happens....I along with millions of others, will be glued to my TV set from 1:00 pm on Easter Sunday.
