WWE Hell in a Cell 2012: Predicting Who Emerges with Each Belt by End of PPV

Jun 7, 2018

The WWE has spent the last few weeks building hype for 2012's edition of the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view and the action shouldn't disappoint. There's a good chance that the WWE Universe will even see a title or two change hands.

While Hell in a Cell may not be one of the biggest events of the year, it still features a good card with some intriguing matches. With the unpredictability of the cell structure thrown in, it's tough to tell exactly how some of these matches will go.

With all of the belts presumably up for grabs, here's a prediction on who will walk away from a wild night with the strap around their waist for each title.

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro

Cesaro isn't guaranteed to defend the belt at Hell in a Cell, so if he does defend his belt, it will be in a match that has had next to no build.

Considering Cesaro's recent loss to Justin Garbriel on Raw, it's a decent bet that he will defend his championship against Gabriel. It wasn't that long ago that Cesaro took the strap from Santino Marella, so it's difficult to envision him losing it this early in his title reign.

Gabriel's win on Raw may be the beginning of a feud with Cesaro, but that doesn't mean that he'll get the win on the big PPV stage. It's more likely that Cesaro either doesn't defend his belt at all or beats Gabriel and begins feuding with him.

Divas Championship: Eve

A triple threat match between incumbent Divas Champion Eve, Kaitlyn and Layla will determine the Divas Championship at Hell in a Cell.

Creative has spent quite some time on building Eve's character and she has embraced the heel role with great success. Kaitlyn and Layla are both faces, so it stands to reason that they will team up against Eve in the beginning.

However, much like Cesaro, it just seems a bit early for Eve's title reign to end right now. Expect her to find a way to rise above the odds to beat the two faces and retain her title.

Intercontinental Championship: Kofi Kingston

After Kofi's stint with R-Truth in the tag team division, it's been nice to see Kingston get the opportunity to hold a title as a singles competitor.

Kingston just won the title on WWE's new Wednesday Main Event show and will defend his belt against The Miz on the PPV card.

The feud between the two has been fairly entertaining even when you consider the sometimes awkward spots with Larry King on Raw. Kingston has shown that he has the mic skills to go with his explosive and entertaining in-ring style and should continue to hold on to the belt.

With Kingston picking up the title so recently, it doesn't make any sense to put it back on The Miz at this point. Expect Kingston to hold onto the belt, but this may not be the last time we see these two get after each other.

Tag Team Championship: Team Rhodes Scholars

Team Rhodes Scholars takes on Team Hell No for the tag team titles at Hell in a Cell in what is probably the most interesting match of the evening.

Kane and Daniel Bryan have been dominant players in WWE programming since beginning the "Anger Management" storyline and are now one of the most entertaining tag teams in a while. However, the team of Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow have been given more and more camera time in their own right.

The pairing of Rhodes and Sandow has been entertaining ,and they couldn't be any hotter after winning the large tag team tournament to decide the No. 1 contender in the division.

Team Hell No already draws a huge response from the crowd and doesn't necessarily need the belt to continue their momentum. Their real value lies in their entertaining promos, not in-ring dominance. Putting the Rhodes Scholars over would not only give Rhodes and Sandow an extra boost, but it would also set up a legitimate feud for Kane and Bryan.

Team Hell No has been entertaining, but a good feud with another team would add a new twist that would keep the concept more fresh for the fans.

World Heavyweight Championship: Big Show

This prediction is probably a long shot because it's a little more likely that either Sheamus retains or Dolph Ziggler will successfully cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but the possibility of Big Show winning the title is still plausible.

While the WWE is usually rather predictable, it can occasionally give us a surprise and this would certainly be a surprise to fans.

Sheamus has been on a roll lately and has held his belt since WrestleMania, but Big Show has been portrayed as a serious threat. It's been suggested in the storyline that Sheamus isn't taking Show seriously enough. It could be possible that Sheamus' lighthearted nature could cost him against Big Show, who has been hyped as a ruthless challenger.

If Big Show does win, there's the issue of an inevitable cash-in by Ziggler.

However, WWE Creative hasn't booked him in a way that says World Heavyweight Champion. With John Cena "sitting out," it's plausible that he'll make an appearance to break up Ziggler's cash-in attempt as payback for Vicki Guerrero getting A.J. Lee fired.

It's not likely, but it's a scenario that we just may see play out on Sunday night.

WWE Championship: CM Punk

The WWE Championship match between Ryback and CM Punk should offer some intriguing in-ring work. It'll be interesting to see how the technical Punk works with the powerful Ryback, and it should be a good match.

Unfortunately, creative now has a dilemma on their hands.

If CM Punk wins cleanly, it pretty much kills any momentum that Ryback has gathered. They really haven't built up the fact that he's undefeated on TV, but it's something that fans notice. His aura of invincibility is what has led to his meteoric rise. Now is not the time to put that to an end.

On the other hand, Punk is the hottest name on the roster outside of John Cena. Punk's title reign is getting closer and closer to a full year and it would be great to see him carry the championship to at least Royal Rumble.

The best solution is to have neither of them win cleanly. The only problem with that is this match will take place in the cell, so there are no disqualifications.

With Brock Lesnar's presence still lurking, there's always a chance he could come in to interfere and help Punk win. If WWE Creative isn't ready to bring him back into the fold, there's always Big Show, who has a connection with Paul Heyman as well.

Without interference from another superstar, it's hard to say who this match goes to.

If Punk gets help from another star, Ryback can keep his aura of invincibility alive while Punk's reputation as a heel who will do anything to defend his title can remain intact.
