NFL Predictions Week 2: Slow-Starting Stars Who Will Bounce Back in Week 2

Chris StephensJun 7, 2018

Eli Manning, Michael Vick and Michael Turner all have one thing in common—they were all disappointing in their efforts in Week 1.

However, the good thing about the NFL is that you can put last week behind you and move on to next week. For two of these three players, their efforts will determine whether their team wins or not.

For one (Turner), he'd still like to have a good week running the football to prove he's still one of the best in the league.

However, one thing all three have in common is that they will improve on their Week 1 performances, showing fans that they are the elite players we consider them to be.

Eli Manning

While Manning wasn't a major disappointment in the New York Giants' loss to the Dallas Cowboys, it was still disappointing to see the way he performed.

Coming off a Super Bowl win and having been elevated into elite status, Manning was anything but elite, as he threw for 213 yards and one touchdown. Where I was most disappointed in him was the number of sacks he took (three) and the number of three-and-outs the Giants had (three) on nine drives.

While Manning only had 11 passes go incomplete, it was his lack of throws down the field that caused the Giants' demise.

With Tampa Bay on the docket this week, Manning should get back on track and get close to 300 yards passing.

After all, he is an elite player; and elite players rebound after tough games.

Vick might have had the most disappointing performance for the Philadelphia Eagles of all top players in Week 1.

How do you throw four interceptions against the Cleveland Browns? I can understand throwing that many against the San Francisco 49ers or your own defense in practice, but the Browns?

As any one of the ESPN Monday Night Countdown commentators would say, "Come on, man!"

Vick will recover this week, however, and put up good numbers.

As I wrote in an earlier article, I think Vick will find success this week and not try to force the ball as much. While the Baltimore Ravens were impressive in their Week 1 win, Vick knows he has a lot to prove, and the Ravens just happen to be in the way.

Expect the interceptions to be down, and both his passing and rushing yards to be up.

Michael Turner

The Atlanta Falcons got the win despite the fact Turner ran for only 32 yards. But, he really didn't need to do much else, as the Falcons' passing game was on point all game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

While many don't expect the Denver Broncos to give up much in the run game against the Falcons, I beg to differ.

There were some missed tackles against Pittsburgh's second-string running backs (in for injured Rashard Mendenhall), allowing 94 yards on the ground.

With an even better running game in Atlanta, the Broncos are bound to give up more yards, thus allowing Turner to have more success than he did last week.
