Wade Barrett's New Aggressive Wrestling Style Will Propel Him to the Top
On the Sept. 7 edition of SmackDown, Wade Barrett made his long-awaited return to WWE. In his return match, the former Nexus leader defeated Yoshi Tatsu in dominant fashion.
Barrett recently participated in an interview with the Ottawa Sun and said, "I'm going to be doing things to entertain myself. It's a new style. There's a lot more brawling, a lot more strikes."
His new style certainly reflects what was depicted in the vignettes that led up to his return. Barrett's match against Tatsu consisted almost entirely of strikes. He even debuted a new finisher that involves a stiff elbow to his opponent's head.

Barrett's style has always implemented his bare-knuckle fighting background. It would appear that Barrett intends on accentuating his fighting expertise even more.
Today's WWE is lacking strong heels to challenge the seemingly untouchable babyfaces. The "Barrett Barrage" will change that. Barrett won't be taking the easy way out. He'll do what he does best—pummel his opponent until he can't kick out of the pin.
In addition, a more pure brawling style will further aid him in garnering heat. Fans already love to hate Barrett. The simple but brutal nature of the new style Barrett debuted will make him one of the biggest heels in WWE.
In his post-match promo, Barrett said he's not interested in anymore meaningless matches. If he can continue to dominate, he'll be on the fast track to challenging Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship. Their styles should mesh nicely.
Barrett's former blend of brawling and wrestling worked well. It was enough to win the Intercontinental Championship and come close to winning the WWE Championship. One can only imagine what this new brawling-based style will spell for Wade Barrett.
