TNA No Surrender 2012 Results: Winners, Twitter Reaction and Highlights

Ian HanfordJun 7, 2018

TNA's No Surrender isn't a marquee pay-per-view event, but it carried a bundle of worthy storylines into Sunday night.

Not only were the tag titles on the line, but Austin Aries' street fight loomed large. On top of that, we had the Bound for Glory Series finale to look forward to as well.

The night went according to plan, minus the BFG Series final. After receiving a beating at the hands of Aces and 8s, Jeff Hardy's status for the final was up in the air. He wound up fighting, but the plot got messy for a bit.

Chiefs Giants Football

Every PPV event has highs and lows, and Sunday was no different. TNA did an excellent job of weaving in the predictable with the unpredictable, creating a fun viewing experience for all.

Let's get you up to speed on who won each match on Sunday night's card, followed by some Twitter reaction and highlights.

Winners

Jeff Hardy Defeats Samoa Joe

This was the first Bound for Glory Series semifinal match, and it didn't disappoint.

We knew entering this match that it would be interesting. Hardy's speed was the perfect antidote to Samoa Joe's brute strength, and Hardy knew how to exploit Joe's injured arm.

Hardy used his quickness to reverse a muscle buster from Joe, but Joe didn't go down easily. He avoided tapping out, fought his way out of a submission hold, but eventually fell victim to Hardy's reversal for the victory.

Hardy's win landed him in the BFG Series final later on Sunday night.

Bully Ray Defeats James Storm

Bully Ray's victory came in controversial fashion, but a win is a win. He advanced to the BFG Series final with help from Bobby Roode and a glass bottle.

That's right. Roode stormed the ring after a series of mishaps put each referee out of commission.

Late in the match, Ray hit a codebreaker on Storm, but knocked the ref over in the process.

With the ref down, Storm hit Ray with a massive kick. That's when Roode came in and hit Storm over the head with a bottle, and pulled Ray on top for the cover.

Conveniently, the referee was able to make the count.

Ray's win solidified the BFG Series final matchup against Hardy later on.

Miss Tessmacher Defeats Tara

Miss Tessmacher retained her Knockouts title in a pretty uneventful match. She used her agility to reverse an attempted Widows Peak from Tara and earn the pinfall.

The match went back and forth, and Tara appeared close to victory on several occasions. She put on a good show, and did have the pin count at two at one point, but Miss Tessmacher was supposed to keep her belt for at least one more night.

Austin Aries Beaten By Aces and 8s

This wasn't an official win, but this street fight didn't end well for Austin Aries. If Hulk Hogan and his baseball bat hadn't intervened, it could have been worse.

Storylines like this are a great thing to play off, and Saturday's "match" didn't disappoint. Aries did his best to take down Aces and 8s' biggest member, but he was eventually overrun by the entire crew.

This solidifies Aces and 8s' shady reputation and leaves this plot at a crossroads. The entire locker room cleared in an effort to help Aries.

At the conclusion of the brawl, Hogan told security to call the police.

Zema Ion Defeats Sonjay Dutt

Ion has missed a lot of time recently because of Aces and 8s, but he successfully defended his X Division title on Sunday night.

In the end, he bridged his way into a devastating facebuster to earn the victory.

It's nice to see Ion get another chance to prove himself. He's an excellent performer, and these two put on an awesome show following the street brawl.

This storyline doesn't have much to it, but Ion's title defense included enough aerial maneuvers to make this match worthwhile.

Rob Van Dam Defeats Magnus

Nothing was on the line in this match, but Van Dam's victory made sense. Magnus loves to run his mouth, but RVD's Five-Star Frogsplash ensured that ended for the time being.

Magnus bullies a lot of opponents, but that didn't happen here.

Christopher Daniels & Kazarian Defeat Kurt Angle and A.J. Styles

This match went back and forth before Daniels and Kazarian eventually retained their titles. Daniels threw a drink in Styles' face, allowing Kazarian to earn the roll-up victory.

Styles tried to land a Styles Clash prior to getting pinned, but the defending champions haven't run the course with TNA just yet.

Jeff Hardy Defeats Bully Ray

This match almost didn't happen, as I mentioned earlier, but Hogan ordered cops to surround the ring. Hardy used the protection to his advantage and earned a fitting victory at the end of the night.

Hardy used the Twist of Fate twice and a Swanton to win. Ray tried to use the Bubba Cutter to cut Hardy down late in the match, but Hardy showed his usual resilience to win the BFG Series championship.

After the events that preceded this match, Hardy almost had to win. Hogan wouldn't send him out there to lose after being beaten by Aces and 8s earlier in the night.

Twitter Reaction

The wrestling industry is fueled by the fans, so let's check in with a few.

This fan didn't agree with the crowd's mood as the PPV came to its conclusion:

"

How was the crowd so dead for that match? Really enjoyed that. Hardy goes to Bound For Glory. #NoSurrender #TNA

— Luke Halpert (@LukeOnRadio) September 10, 2012"

Jeff Hardy has been around the block, and his career is put into perspective by J.J. on Twitter:

"

Jeff winning is a good "comeback moment" and he is the biggest name TNA has, can't blame them for putting him in the main event...

— J.J. (@JJTheMark) September 10, 2012"

Kevin doesn't agree with me. I thought this event was exciting overall, but he begs to differ:

"

TNA No Surrender PPV ReviewOverall Score: 5.75-This show was straight up boring. It had a couple good (cont) tl.gd/j7t998

Highlights

Check out highlights from the Knockouts Championship match:

Bully Ray was not pleased and decided to take out his anger on a spectator's sign:

You can see Jeff Hardy get hurt in the street brawl here:

All in all, it was an exciting night. Storylines have new directions, and Hardy's battle made Sunday night's event worthwhile.
