BMW Championship 2012: Day 2 Leaders Sure to Fall Behind by Sunday
The first two rounds of the 2012 BMW Championship are in the books and the field is beginning to take shape.
The leaderboard for the tourney has some familiar faces on it and the final two days of the BMW Championship should be interesting ones to say the least.
However, some of the names that currently sit atop the leaderboards simply won't be able to sustain their solid play through the weekend, thus leaving them on the outside looking in when it's all said and done on Sunday.
Here are some of the current leaders that will be irrelevant by the end of this tournament.
Woods currently sits tied for second on the leaderboards and as of late, we've seen this story over and over again. Tiger continues to come within just strokes of winning tournaments, but has proven to be unable to finish strong like he used to.
Instead, Tiger reverts from his solid play through the first two or three days of any given tourney and turns into just another mediocre golfer on Sunday. As long as that continues, golf fans know that Woods isn't fully back yet.
It's still a "see it to believe it" approach for Tiger finishing a tournament strong, which is a stark contrast to his history in the sport.
Vijay Singh
Singh is the current sentimental favorite heading into Day 3 of the BMW Championship and he's also the leader, but sentimentality isn't going to help him win this tournament.
Singh was in great shape at the Open Championship before succumbing to a final day score of 70 that ended his major hopes. At the PGA Championship, Singh looked to be in contention after the first two days only to shoot a 74 and 77 on the final two days to yet again miss out on a major.
His most recent collapse at The Barclays saw another disappointing finish as Singh started shooting a 68 and 67 the first two days, only to blow his tourney hopes by shooting scores of 76 and 75 on the last two days.
Singh has had his fair share of issues finishing his solid starts this season, so chances are he'll suffer the same fate at the 2012 BMW Championship.
Ryan Moore
Moore is easily the biggest surprise at the 2012 BMW Championship so far as he sits tied for second, but the wind is about to come out of the 29-year-old's sails real soon. Moore has seen this type of good start numerous times this season, but has yet to prove he can finish.
In his last two tournaments, Moore has gotten off to a great start only to have it spoiled by a bad finish.
In The Barclays, Moore started off shooting a 69 on each of the first two days but quickly erased his success with scores of 70 and 75 on the final two days. At the Deutsche Bank Championship, Moore compiled scores of 64 and 68 to start that tourney, but again failed to complete his quest after putting up a 70 and 72 over the weekend.
History is certainly against Moore finishing strong and taking this tourney.
