NBA 2k13: Biggest Reasons to Own New NBA Video Game
In the pantheon of sports video games, you would be hard-pressed to find a better series over the last two years than NBA 2k. The people behind the game have a difficult task ahead of them, but there are a lot of reasons to be optimistic about NBA 2k13.
When you have a series that has received as much acclaim, both critically and from fans, there can be reluctance to make any drastic changes for fear of alienating the audience that you built.
However, you have to give 2K Sports credit for not resting on its laurels. It wants to challenge expectations every single year.
So what should you look forward to the most when you get your hands on the game when it hits shelves on October 2?
1992 Dream Team
All summer, the big story in basketball was not whether the United States was going to win an Olympic gold medal. No, that was secondary.
That's because Kobe Bryant and LeBron James had the audacity to say the 2012 version of Team USA would not only compete with the Dream Team but win the game.
Thanks to the inclusion of the Dream Team in NBA 2k13, gamers can find out who would reign supreme in a battle between the two sides.
With such a star-studded team, it will be tempting to play as the Dream Team, but wouldn't it be more fun to use the 2012 Charlotte Bobcats in a game against them, just to see if you can keep it close?
My Career
Everyone loved the "My Player" mode the last two years, but why not try to expand the mode to include all of the little things that encompass a player's career?
Based on some of the few screen shots that have been released by 2K Sports, it appears to be an all-inclusive mode that will take you from the glory days of college all the way through your final moment as an NBA superstar and, potentially, to the Hall of Fame.
One intriguing aspect of the mode is the sit-down interview with the general manager. These are subtle details that immerse the gamer in the experience of what these players actually go through during the draft and scouting process.
Small Details
Some gamers just want to turn the game on and play basketball, not paying attention to anything else that happens. There is nothing wrong with that. I would be willing to bet most people are like that.
However, for those who pay attention to subtle details, this will be the sports game for you.
Based on tweets from members of TEAM UP, you can make players flop, there is sweat and the look of the crowd.
"OMG LOL AWESOME!!!! Flopping is awesome & funny just double tap B. funny seeing dudes drop all over the place. Can happen anywhere on court

When you have a solid foundation, which NBA 2k clearly does, you have to figure out small details to improve the presentation. It looks like 2K Sports is doing just that.
