Real Madrid Transfer Report: Radamel Falcao 'Dreams' of Madrid Move

Max TowleJun 7, 2018

In a report that will certainly improve the mood of Real Madrid fans following Cristiano Ronaldo's recent expression of sadness, it seems that Los Merengues are in pole position for the signing of the highly rated striker Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian's father, Radamel Garcia, had claimed earlier in the week that a move to the Premier League was the most likely eventuality for his son.

But in an interview with programme El Gran debate de Todelar, Garcia backtracked, revealing that Madrid would be favourites for the signature, were they to show an interest (h/t ESPN).

"[Falcao] will change teams at the end of the year," he revealed.

"Since he was a boy he's always wanted to play there. Other teams in Europe like Chelsea and Manchester City were interested in him. If he can't play for Real Madrid, he'll play for a team in England."

Falcao's current club, Atletico Madrid, are currently in a state of financial meltdown, and it is widely known that if they were to receive an offer too good to refuse, they would be willing to part with their greatest asset.

Chief executive of Atletico "Miguel Angel Gil Marin admitted this week that a sale in the near future is inevitable and stressed that they 'took a risk' in rejecting offers for the Colombian striker during the summer."

Falcao attempted to downplay the rumours Wednesday though, taking to twitter to try and assuage the fears of Atletico fans:

"

Para que todo el mundo lo tenga claro: Mi sueño es seguir ganando títulos con el Atletico de Madrid y clasificar con Colombia al mundial.

— Radamel Falcao (@FALCAO) September 5, 2012"

The translation of which is, "So that everybody is clear: My dream is to keep on winning things with Atletico Madrid and help Colombia to get a place in World Cup 2014."

Falcao has long been regarded as one of, if not the most deadly strikers in all of world football.

Last season, he scored an impressive 36 goals in all competitions, most notably netting a brace in his team's Europa League final victory over fellow Spanish club Athletic Bilbao.

This season, he's already bagged six goals in three games, showing that the summer break had no effect in slowing him down.

If Real Madrid were to secure his services in January, surely Jose Mourinho's side would consequently become the most feared team on the continent.

That's if they aren't already.
