Little League World Series 2012 Results: Japan Proves Unbeatable
Japan took down Latin America 10-2 in the 2012 Little League World Series International Championship game, and in doing so, they took all the suspense out of Sunday's championship game. This talented and well-rounded team is not going lose.
After beating the West by a touchdown and a two-point conversion 24-16, the Southeast is going to try and prove me wrong as they represent the United States side of the bracket in Sunday's game.
Feel free to check out the full results from the entire tournament here, but let me just say, that both of these squads have proven to be the class of the tournament—neither team has lost a game.
However, it is Japan that has a distinct advantage in the most important place to have an advantage: pitching.
Japan leads the tournament in ERA, WHIP and opponent slugging percentage. This team has allowed just three runs all tournament.
Meanwhile the Southeast, as you might be able to deduce from the 16 runs they allowed while advancing, does not have nearly as dominant a staff.
What they do have is outstanding hitting. In fact, they feature the best lineup in the tournament. They lead very comfortably in average, OPS and slugging. Just to give you an idea, these boys from Tennessee are hitting .421 as a team.
The Japan team is eighth in the tournament with a batting average of .294, which pales in comparison, but will be good enough to do the trick.
We've all heard the axiom "good pitching beats good hitting," and that is going to be proven true once again.
Japan will find a way to keep the amazing Southeast lineup at bay, and they will get enough across the plate to secure the championship.
