Little League World Series 2012 Results: Top Individual Studs from Day 7

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

There were only two Little League World Series games on Wednesday, but considering they were between the only remaining undefeated teams, the stars were abundant.

Japan's stud pitchers were once again in full force while Tennessee got some timely hitting to knock off Texas, which was most people's favorite coming into the tournament.

Let's take a closer look at the best individual performances. Why? Because these kids deserve as much recognition as possible.

Ryuji Osada, P, Japan (Beat Latin America, 4-1)

Ho-hum. Another dominant performance from a Japanese pitcher. In other news, ESPN mentioned Tim Tebow.

Osada went five innings, gave up four hits, two walks and struck out seven in what was arguably Japan's worst pitching performance of the tournament.

Yes, I said worst.

It's nothing against Osada, who was brilliant. It just speaks to how good this entire staff is, as it has now gone 21 innings with 38 strikeouts and zero earned runs. Yikes.

Cole Carter, C, Tennessee (Beat Texas, 4-3)

Not only did Carter call a great game at one of the tougher positions on the field, he was a monster at the plate.

The five-footer racked up three hits in four at-bats, including the game-winning RBI single to put Tennessee ahead in the top of the sixth.

It was an absolutely clutch performance from Carter, who was one-for-six coming into this one, at the best moment possible.

Jake Rucker, P/SS, Tennessee (Beat Texas, 4-3)

It wasn't the normally dominant performance at the plate for Rucker, who still managed to walk twice and score a run in four plate appearances, but he more than made up for it on the mound.

Rucker went a solid 4.1 innings, holding a stacked San Antonio lineup to one run (zero earned) on four hits and six strikeouts. The normally dangerous Jordan Cardenas went just one-for-three.

Rucker didn't get the win, but he deserves recognition for this gem.
