They also shed some light on how they added him to the roster.
"Gholston takes roster spot vacated by CB Josh Gordy, who was traded to Indianapolis for a draft pick.

Defensive end Gholston, out of Ohio State, was the sixth pick by the New York Jets in the 2008 draft. He possessed the kind of talent that had teams thinking he was going to be a beastly pass-rusher.
That has not proven to be the case. Gholston has precisely zero sacks in his NFL career.
He spent his first three years with the Jets before they sent him packing. The Bears took a flyer on him last year, but he did not make it to the regular season, and he did not find another team until now.
The Rams have solid starters at defensive end with Chris Long and Robert Quinn, but they could certainly use some depth, and Gholston should have every chance to make this roster.
It is hard to see him performing well enough to do so after sitting out the entire season last year, but sometimes the light just comes on for guys at different points in their career—after all, he is still just 26.
Maybe Gholston will finally turn all that talent into production.
