WWE SummerSlam 2012 Results: Brock Lesnar Beats Triple H and What It Means

The main event of SummerSlam saw one of the most physical contests in WWE history. Brock Lesnar and Triple H engaged in a brutal battle that closed out the 25th annual SummerSlam.

The physicality between Lesnar and Triple H laid the groundwork for their main-event match. While Triple H was entirely emotionally invested in taking down "The Next Big Thing," Lesnar was simply set out to hurt "The Game."

In the end, Lesnar countered a pin following a Pedigree into a Kimura Lock. Triple H would come so incredibly close to defeating Lesnar only to have to lose via submission. Not only did Hunter lose, he was forced to tap out.

If we learned anything from the match itself, it's that Brock Lesnar is an unstoppable beast. Lesnar dominated the majority of the match. Other than the brief stretch where Lesnar seemed to be battling with his diverticulitis, Triple H was on the receiving end of a beating for most of the match.

It seems that Lesnar will continue to dominate his competition. While he didn't defeat Cena back at Extreme Rules, he still looked incredibly dominant throughout the match. The same could be said for this SummerSlam match against Triple H.

As interesting as Lesnar and Triple H's near 20-minute battle was, it was Triple H's post-match retirement tease that concluded SummerSlam with a great cliffhanger.

Michael Cole questioned whether or not this would be the last we see of the "Cerebral Assassin." While I don't believe Triple H is going to retire completely, he could definitely take an extended leave.

In addition, Lesnar taking out Triple H could set up any number of blockbuster feuds for Lesnar. Seeds for Undertaker vs. Lesnar were planted way back in October 2010 when the two of them had a brief on-screen encounter following UFC 121.

Lesnar's feud with Triple H was brilliantly developed over an extended period of time. Should they choose to head toward Lesnar vs. 'Taker at WrestleMania, then they should take time developing that, too.

Triple H arguably came closer to beating The Streak these past two years than anyone else ever has. They could play up the fact that Lesnar dominated the one man who beat Undertaker so bad he couldn't leave the ring under his own power.

In addition to looking incredibly strong after defeating Triple H, Lesnar's victory sets up a plethora of marquee feuds. Going forward, there's a lot that the WWE can do with Lesnar. I look forward to seeing what kind of thing they've got in store for "The Next Big Thing."
