Now let's take a look at three teams you should have your eye on with action rapidly approaching.

Fairfield American (Conn.)

Any team that wins 14-0 to advance to Williamsport should be paid attention too, especially if this is their second appearance in three years (per CBS Connecticut)

This team absolutely crushes the ball, and it almost makes their pitching irrelevant at times. Catcher Biagio Paoletta is one of the best hitters in this year's tournament, and he made that clear when he hit a grand slam in their regional final victory.

This team made it out of a tough New England regional by outscoring opponents 60-8, and they are a team to watch in Williamsport.

Tokyo Kitasuna (Japan)

Japan is notorious for their success in Williamsport. Seven Japanese teams have won the entire tournament, and a representative has made it to the World Championship game in seven of the past 10 years.

Pitching could be a concern for this team. They allowed 10 runs in their final game before Williamsport, but they also managed to rack up 20. Teams from this league are traditionally known for their fundamentals, having sent two teams to Williamsport since 2000.

Keep an eye on this squad. It's tough to repeat success every year, but the large sample size leaves no reason to believe anything will change this time around.

Curacao (Caribbean)

Curacao's opening-round matchup against Japan is one of the best games to watch in the entire tournament.

This team went undefeated in their qualifying rounds according to littleleague.org and allowed less than one run in five of those games. Given that they also have a penchant for scoring runs, their games are bound to be exciting to watch.

By my count, Curacao racked up a plus-58 scoring margin in the Caribbean regional tournament. Despite Japan's disciplined style of play, this squad will give them everything they can handle for six innings.
