Madden 13: What Top Critics Are Saying About the Brand New Demo
The demo of Madden NFL 13 was just released on Tuesday, and many gamers are clamoring to download it onto their consoles. It features two exciting matchups between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, as well as the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins.
Gamers who have been skeptical of a franchise that has been regarded by some as nothing more than a roster update in previous years will be blown away by the brand new Infinity Engine and all of the new features that the developers added to this year’s version.
It’s no longer a scripted experience that features the same tackles over and over but is now a unique game every time due to the amazing physics engine.
But don’t take my word for it, just check out what some other critics and fans are saying about the demo.
The reviewer for Operation Sports, a notable fan site for all sports-related video games, called this the “best demo Madden has ever put out."
He pointed out that the sliders for fatigue, injuries and speed were extremely useful and the new passing system was innovative.
One notable thing about this review is that he played on the “All-Madden” difficulty and found that the CPU will play the run extremely tough—so inexperienced users and those easily frustrated should avoid the difficulty or mess with the sliders.
Our own Brian Mazique took some time to indulge in the demo and came away quite satisfied.
He loved the new physics engine, which makes the game “feel” different and look much more realistic.
One of the unique things about his review was his commentary on the presentation of the game. Mazique finds it to be better than ever now that Phil Simms and Jim Nantz are calling the action rather than Gus Johnson and Cris Collinsworth—who had been doing the same recycled audio for years.

Dan Steinberg of the D.C. Sports Bog had a chance to sit down with the Madden demo and highlighted one of the funnier things about the download: Mike Shanahan’s incredibly jacked figure.
The Redskins head coach, at age 59, is looking extremely beefy in a sideline shot, which may be due to his 5 a.m. workouts and trying keep up with his young, athletic players.
I’m sure the coach is quite flattered by the way the designers decided to bulk him up to Ed Hochuli levels.
