A.W. and the 5 Craziest Kiss-off Moments in Wrestling History
As we all know by now, the performer formerly known as Abraham Washington has been released by the WWE.
In case you forgot, A.W. was released roughly a week after making a dated yet inappropriate Kobe Bryant joke.
All seemed to be OK, as the WWE announced that he was reprimanded. Shortly after the statement, Washington was back on WWE TV with limited mic time, then released soon after.
Then, immediately following his release, A.W. took matters into his own hands and went on a Twitter rant burying the WWE, its affiliate and the McMahons.
Ultimately, the WWE suspended @AWpromotions on Twitter, forcing the star to open up an account under his real name.
Now, keep in mind, many stars have come and gone before him. However, only a handful of them have successfully attempted to make as big of a bang as he did. Don't get me wrong, A.W.'s Twitter tirade definitely pales in comparison to these other stars.
However, since A.W. made such a huge stink, he will be forever linked to the following stars.
Rick Rude
1 of 5"The Ravishing One" had been gone from the WWE for several years.
However, upon his return, he was immediately linked up with arguably one of the most controversial factions in WWE history: D-X.
Unfortunately, the WWE never finalized Rude's contracts, thus making him a free agent. Somehow, Eric Bischoff got wind of this and acted fast to bring Rude over to WCW.
And considering Raw was pre-taped and WCW Nitro was live, Bischoff had the perfect opportunity to leave egg on WWE's face.
Ultimately, on the same night that Rude was slated to appear on Raw, he shocked the world and infamously appeared on both shows on the same night and buried the WWE's name and reputation on Nitro.
Ric Flair
2 of 5"The Real World Champion" was thriving in WCW, making both him and the company plenty of cash.
However, a dispute between him and management caused the release of Ric Flair. Ultimately, Flair was still in possession of the WCW Heavyweight title and headed north with it in tow.
In the end, I believe this marked the first time in history a competitor's title made it on-air in order to promote the debut of a wrestler.
Scott Hall
3 of 5"The Bad Guy" had cut his teeth in the WWE as Razor Ramon.
However, when contract time came around, Ted Turner's WCW had more money and opportunity.
This lead to one of the most controversial debuts in wrestling history, as fans believed that the WWE star was invading WCW.
We would later find out that Hall had picked up shop and went to WCW.
This move helped build one of the biggest factions ever seen.
Stone Cold Steve Austin
4 of 5Before he was "Stone Cold," he was simply "Stunning." That was, until WCW decided they no longer needed his services.
Ultimately, "The Texas Rattlesnake" would revitalize his career in ECW by cutting some brutal promos against his former employer.
These promos led to Austin's WWE hiring, and the rest is history.
The Radicalz
5 of 5After voluntarily giving up the WCW title, Benoit decided to take his skills and head north.
Luckily, several of his friends were also ready to make the move, and The Radicalz were formed.
The rogue group, led by Benoit, were literally weeks out of their WCW contracts and came to the WWE with a vengeance.
In the end, all of the members except Perry Saturn found success. Sadly, Saturn finished up his WWE tenure wearing a dress and talking to a mop.
