PGA Championship Results 2012: Most Impressive Performances from Kiawah Island

Tim KeeneyJun 7, 2018

Not everyone can be Rory McIlroy.

While the 23-year-old Irishman, who set a record for largest margin of victory at the PGA Championship with his 13-under, clearly had the most impressive performance of the week at the Island Course, plenty of other golfers had a tremendous four days.

They don't get to leave with the Wanamaker Trophy, but they should still leave South Carolina with a lot of positives.

Let's take a look.

Keegan Bradley

For the lack of overall experience he has, Keegan Bradley continues to absolutely destroy majors.

Last year's PGA Championship was his first ever major. He won. This year, he has added a 27th-place finish at the Masters, a 34th-place finish at the Open Championship (he was in contention, but had a bad final day) and now a third-place finish from Kiawah.

Five majors, five cuts made, three top 30s, two top fives and one win. Not too shabby.

Bradley recovered from a 77 on Friday to post a five-under on the weekend. He rocketed up 13 spots on Sunday, putting him in a tie for third.

Justin Rose

After a great start to his season—he won the Cadillac Championship, finished eighth at the Masters and 21st at the U.S. Open—Rose disappointingly failed to make the cut at the Open Championship.

After an atrocious 79 on Friday (everyone struggled on Friday, but Rose was especially bad), it appeared the South African was headed for more disappointment.

Not so fast.

The 32-year-old shot a two-under 70 on Saturday and six-under 66 on Sunday. He climbed the leaderboard in a hurry, finishing in a tie for third.

On Rose's final two days of the tournament, he holed 11 birdies and just five bogeys.

David Lynn

You aren't going to see any other golfer, with the exception of maybe Tiger Woods, who will be more disrespected than David Lynn.

But while Tiger's disrespect will come in the form on constant berating and complete over-analysis, Lynn's will come in the form of crickets.

The 38-year-old Englishman finished 53rd at the Open Championship way back in 2003. Since then, he has one win on the European Tour and zero major appearances.

And what does he do? He goes out and shoots freaking 283, finishing second by himself. $865,000 is not such a bad payday for a guy ranked 98th in the world.

Lynn won't get a ton of press, but his ability to play smart golf, even at this tough, windy course, was downright impressive.

On Thursday, just two bogeys. On Friday, when everyone was collapsing, just two bogeys. On Saturday, two bogeys. Finally, on Sunday, the day in which he climbed eight spots, just one bogey.

Marvelous week from a relatively unknown player.
