London 2012 Medal Count: Countries That Lost Ground on Day 13
With just three days of Olympic events left, China is dangerously close of dropping out of the race for most medals.
On Wednesday, the Chinese pulled in just four medals, which was barely a third of what the United States tallied. They lost their overall medal lead.
On Thursday, China's struggles continued to snowball as it lost the gold medal lead, as well.
With track and field dominating the action, most foresaw China taking a step back, but for them to fall this far behind the Americans was a bit unexpected.
With that being said, let's take a look at China and other countries that struggled on Day 13.

China (1 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze on Day 13)
Now, most countries would kill to bring in four medals in one day, but China isn't most countries.
China is used to being at the top of the daily leaderboard, but on Thursday, it was bested by four other countries, including Hungary.
Two-time defending boxing World Champion Ren Cancan lost in the women's flyweight gold medal match, while China suffered many other disappointing results in the combat sports. The only gold it received was in diving, which was always expected.
Italy (0 Gold, 0 Silver, 2 Bronze on Day 13)
Italy is battling to stay in the top 10 in the medal count (currently 10th overall and ninth in golds), but on Thursday it saw 14 countries have a better day.
It grabbed a bronze in track and field and in swimming, but it's inability to win medals in the lesser-talked-about sports could hurt down the stretch.
France (0 Gold, 0 Silver, 1 Bronze on Day 13)
Eesh. Remember when France was in third place overall? Well, we're not in the pool anymore, are we?
Ever since the main swimming events ended, France has consistently dropped in the standings and after taking home just one bronze on Thursday (taekwondo), it has officially hit rock bottom.
France has now fallen to seventh in the medal count and it has both Australia and South Korea nipping at its heels. If the French don't want to continue to get passed up, they will, just like the rest of the countries on this list, have to step it up in the coming days.
