Nik Wallenda Drops Safety Harness for His Walk Above Atlantic City

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

Nik Wallenda took another little stroll out on the tightrope, but this time it was in Atlantic City and it was without the complement of a safety harness.

NBC 10 Philadelphia (h/t Off the Bench) reports Wallenda just completed a jaunt 100 feet in the air and 1,300 feet in length, armed with just a bar for balance and his nerves.

The walk took him from the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel to the Tropicana Casino and Resort without safety precautions.

As you look at this video, you have to marvel at that fact (h/t Bob's Blitz).

There were plenty to criticize Wallenda when he took on the famed Niagara Falls with the use of a safety harness

Even those amazed at the walk had to admit at least a modicum of the element of danger had been eradicated.

There were no such devices in this walk, and a fall would mean his death.

That makes the above video, while grainy and nowhere near the HD quality seen on TV when he traipsed across Niagara Falls, simply amazing.

As the report reminds us, Wallenda holds seven Guinness World Records and comes from the highly-famed Flying Wallenda family.

Tightrope walking is in his blood, and he may be as comfortable up there in the high wire as some of us are going for a morning jog.

That doesn't make this any less remarkable.
