NBA Rumors: Latest Buzz for Top Free Agent at Each Position
As the NBA free agency pool continues to dry up, teams with gaps left in their lineups must scrape the bottom and try to unearth hidden gems.
Fortunately, there are still solid options left at each and every position.
Read on for the latest buzz surrounding the top player left at each of the five spots in a starting lineup.
Point Guard: Jonny Flynn
1 of 5Last Team: Portland Trail Blazers
Age: 23
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 5.2 points, 3.8 assists, 1.7 rebounds, 0.1 blocks, 0.2 steals
Jonny Flynn's career has taken a turn for the worse ever since his rookie season with the Minnesota Timberwolves ended, but the point guard is still only 23 years old and has plenty of time to get back on track.
His speed and quickness are still ever-present in his game, a fact that should be attracting a little bit more attention than it has.
Ever since Jodie Valade of The Plain Dealer reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers were holding a workout for the diminutive point guard, the news has stopped flowing.
Flynn is still very much up for grabs.
Shooting Guard: Jodie Meeks
2 of 5Last Team: Philadelphia 76ers
Age: 24
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.0 blocks, 0.6 steals
The sharp-shooting 2-guard isn't going to become a star in this league, but he will remain a valuable role-player for a long time.
Jodie Meeks can knock down threes from anywhere on the court, and he's a solid defensive player out on the perimeter. If he's allowed to focus on his strengths, he'll be able to help any contender make some noise.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been the primary suitor for Meeks, although a certain monetary situation could throw a wrench in the plans, according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times:
"Meeks' agent, David Bauman, said Meeks is on the Lakers' radar and that of "four or five" other unspecified teams. But Bauman also added Meeks' interest with the Lakers could hinge on a significant variable."We're happy to talk, but we're not talking minimum for a guy like Jodie," Bauman told The Times in a phone interview on Monday. "He'll get more than the minimum wherever he signs."
"
Small Forward: Carlos Delfino
3 of 5Last Team: Milwaukee Bucks
Age: 29
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 9.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.2 blocks, 1.5 steals
Carlos Delfino has performed quite well for Argentina during the London Olympics, and he'll be looking to use that showing as a springboard towards another NBA contract.
With his shooting ability from the corner, ball-handling skills and defensive play, Delfino should absolutely earn a spot on a contender's bench.
The latest buzz surrounding the small forward has the Argentine going to the Boston Celtics. According to A. Sherrod Blakely, the C's have some interest in signing the veteran:
"Among those still available? Milwaukee Bucks swing man Carlos Delfino, a player the Celtics have expressed some interest in according to league sources. Delfino doesn't have the same kind of sizzle as a Mayo or Lee signing might have, but he would definitely fill a need."
Power Forward: Andray Blatche
4 of 5Last Team: Washington Wizards
Age: 25
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 8.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.7 blocks, 0.8 steals
Andray Blatche has had his fair share of trouble, both on and off the court, and became the victim of the Washington Wizards' amnesty clause.
He's still a young and athletic player who excels on the glass and the offensive end of the court. If he could get his head on straight, he'd still be able to become a dangerous player and possibly a true star in this league.
ESPN's Marc Stein reports that two contenders have some interest in the low-risk (due to the inevitably low contract), high-reward player:
"Free-agent rumble that just dribbled across the pond: Heat & Spurs among teams to express exploratory interest in free agent Andray Blatche

Center: Chris Andersen
5 of 5Last Team: Denver Nuggets
Age: 34
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 5.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.2 assists, 1.4 blocks, 0.6 steals
The legally-troubled and eccentric center may be 34 already, but he can still be highly effective off the bench. You need look no further than his 18.97 PER last season to realize that.
ESPN's Jared Zwerling has reported that Chris Andersen is willing to sign for the veteran's minimum, but there's no true indication of where he'll land thus far during the free agency proceedings:
"A source close to unrestricted free agent Chris Andersen said the power forward is open to signing for the veteran's minimum.
"
Zwerling goes on to speculate that he could play for the New York Knicks, but that's purely speculation and not actually a rumor.
