PGA Championship Odds 2012: Final Betting Lines for Golf's Most Notable Names
The 2012 PGA Championship begins this morning at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. Every big name golfer in the world will be on hand to try and capture the final major of the season.
With so many greats in the field, it’s extremely tough to handicap who will win. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest stars in the sport and what Bovada.lv has set their odds to win the PGA Championship.
Tiger Woods—8/1
Woods has captured four PGA Championships in his career and is hoping that he can earn his fifth in 2012. He’s the favorite in the field and has every right to be due to his excellent play for most of the year.
However, Woods has been undergoing terrible struggles during the weekend rounds of the major tournaments and it has hamstrung his quest for a 15th major.
At 8/1, this is a major gamble, but Tiger could pay off.
Rory McIlRoy—18/1
The 23-year-old is a fan-favorite and excellent player, but it’s tough to back him at 18/1. That puts him right behind Tiger as the second-biggest favorite in the event.
McIlroy hasn’t been having the best 2012 season, with his top finish in a major coming at The Masters. That was a paltry T-40, while he was cut from the U.S. Open and tied for 60 at the British Open.
It wouldn’t be wise to back this young man to win just yet.
Phil Mickelson—40/1
Lefty is another big-name star that the 2012 season has not been kind to. He started off with a nice T-3 finish at The Masters, but bombed out in the U.S. Open and was cut from the Open Championship.
He’s got appropriate odds for his chance of actually winning a PGA Championship for the second time in his career.
Mickelson is valuable at 40/1, because he’s great enough and experienced enough to actually pull this off.
