PGA Championship Field 2012: Dark-Horse Players Ready to Impress
They could all win this tournament.
The PGA Championship has a way of taking unknown players and making them household names.
Just ask Keegan Bradley and Jason Dufner.
And while there will be plenty of "name" players on the course, there will also be men we did not think who could challenge for the title storm toward the from and atop the leaderboard.
Here are a few golfers who look to impress with their game at Kiawah Island this weekend.
Spencer Levin
1 of 6He is a middle of the pack competitor who sticks around the leaderboard from time to time and competes for titles but falls just short.
Spencer Levin could be one of those players we are talking about on Sunday.
Last year, he tied for 26th in Atlanta. And he has played more consistent golf this season on the tour.
I think a course like this can test his mettle and maybe show he is ready to take the next step forward.
Jim Furyk
2 of 6For a golfer who has been steady and unflappable for years, Furyk has shown a mental block in his game as of late.
Can he put it all together and challenge this weekend?
He lost, rather gave away the U.S. Open to Webb Simpson and then collapsed this past weekend when Keegan Bradley came away with the win.
It will be interesting to see which Furyk shows up this weekend.
Carl Pettersson
3 of 6We know him now for winning the Heritage in South Carolina earlier this year, but we would like to see more of him with consistent play.
Can Pettersson show he is ready to compete for a major on American soil?
His game is not unfamiliar to true golf fans with five wins on the PGA Tour, but aside from the win at Heritage, we have not heard much from him.
Kiawah would be a great place for the 34-year-old Swedish player to make his mark.
Scott Piercy
4 of 6After winning the Canadian Open two weeks ago and finishing in the top 20 at the Bridgestone WGC, Piercy is the new talent we all must follow.
Until last month, he was an unknown commodity, but if he can tame Kiawah and play like he did in Canada, we all will know about him in a hurry.
Brandt Snedeker
5 of 6I'm going to keep touting him.
Snedeker has been playing some of his best golf of his life as of late.
Could this be the major he finally wins?
We all know what he did at The Open Championship. Now, he needs to put together four solid rounds in a major to prove the collapse was more course then mentality.
Bud Cauley
6 of 6A man name Bud playing a golf game in South Carolina.
Seems logical.
He tied for fourth at the Canadian Open and may have some momentum with him. It will be interesting to see if this unknown can charge toward the top of the leaderboard and catch fire and the PGA Championship.
