Manchester United Transfer News: What Robin Van Persie Would Mean to United
There is little doubt that Robin van Persie has the skills and the ability to become a dynamic striker at Manchester United, should he make a move there over the summer transfer window.
The partnership he would form with England international and United frontman Wayne Rooney would send shivers down the spine of every defensive unit in the English Premier League.
He could be prolific.

Having said that, there is a big question mark surrounding whether or not he will come to Old Trafford this summer and it doesn't even have to do with the financial side of it.
The big question is that if the Red Devils splash out and land the Dutch international for next season, how is he going to fit into Sir Alex Ferguson's squad at Old Trafford?
And off that, what implications are there for his arrival? Which players are likely to benefit and which players are likely to suffer as a result of their transfer recruit, should he make a move to Manchester United this summer?
First off, the winners are obvious.
Wayne Rooney will finally have the second striker that United have been looking for for some time now and he will thrive in having another creative, dominant attacker up front with him.
Rooney's tendency to drop back into midfield and help the attack combined with Van Persie's ruthless finishing and strong on-ball ability will form a symbiotic relationship—one that benefits each other and mutually sustains those involved—and would create the most fearsome duo in the entire English Premier League.
Defenses wouldn't know who to pick up in the box, meaning that players such as Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young would have another player to hit on their crosses, another target to find inside the box.
United's attack is a clear winner from any move involving RVP.
But not every member in the Red Devils squad is likely to benefit, with some perhaps dreading the idea of the Dutchman's arrival at Old Trafford.
Players like Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez know that should Van Persie move to United, their playing time will be severely limited next season. The two are already likely to compete for playing time in United's attack—that fact would only be compounded by another striker arriving at the club.
Welbeck, in particular, is a big loser from any deal.
To start for England at the European Championships and then come off the bench for Manchester United in your domestic competition simply doesn't seem right—especially given his strong performances for the Red Devils late in the season last year.
I'd also want to suggest that United winger Nani could struggle with the arrival of Robin van Persie—simply because of the depth it creates in the Red Devils' attack for next season.
Should RVP come, Shinji Kagawa's position in the United midfield becomes an interesting dilemma, with the likely outcome being that one of United's wingers will drop back to the bench.
I doubt it will be Valencia—United's Player of the Year last season—meaning that Nani and Ashley Young will be in competition for a starting position that at times won't even exist. Both players would start off the bench on some occasions.
Given the Portuguese international's insecurity about his position in the United squad this season, as stated through his outburst at the 2012 European Championships (per The Guardian), don't be surprised if those fears repeat themselves if Van Persie arrives.
It might just be coincidence, but the two biggest losers from any deal involving the Gunners striker are the two players that have already had contract negotiations issues this summer—Nani's mentioned above and Welbeck's previously this summer (via The Daily Star).
The arrival of Robin van Persie would turn the Red Devils' attack into the most feared force in the English Premier League, but it would do so at the cost of several high-quality players.
United must recognize this, and together with the money required to bring him to Old Trafford, ask the simple question—is Robin van Persie worth it?
