Olympic Swimming: Watch France's Thrilling Victory in 4x100m Freestyle Relay
Every Olympic Games provides a race to remember forever, and London 2012 was no exception after the thrilling finish to the men's 4x100-meter freestyle relay.
The United States and Australia entered the race as the favorites to beat, though France were not to be discounted as a potential gold medal-winning team.
The United States led for most of the race and with star swimmer Ryan Lochte setting off for the final length almost a full body length in front of the competition, it was assumed that the Americans had another gold medal in the bag.
Only problem was that someone forget to tell French anchor Yannick Agnel.
Agnel stormed home in the final lap to draw near with Lochte and then sensationally pull away in the final 10 meters to give France a stunning upset victory—particularly given the strong position that the United States were in and their star duo of Lochte and Michael Phelps.
The result came as a reverse of the result at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where the United States pipped France to win the gold. Now, it seems, it was time for payback.
Watch the video for some incredible footage of the race below.
Warning: French commentators get very excited when France win.
Just letting you know.
