MLB Trade Rumors: Marlins Want 'Teixeira-Like Deal' for Josh Johnson
The Miami Marlins right-handed pitcher Josh Johnson is not going to be traded before July 31 unless his price tag is lowered.
According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports, the Marlins are looking for something like the Mark Teixeira package in return for Johnson.
For those of you who might not remember 2007, Mark Teixeira was traded by the Texas Rangers with Rod Mahay for Beau Jones, Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Matt Harrison and Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
When you fast-forward to 2012, you can see how well that trade worked out for the Rangers. Jones is the only prospect who has not had much major league success, but getting four very strong prospects is still a big package.
However, with Teixeira, that type of deal was somewhat understandable. At the time, he was one of the best offensive forces in baseball, and he was a Gold Glove defender to boot. Johnson has not really done any of that.
He has had some strong seasons, but his durability is a huge question mark. He has been in the major leagues since 2005, but he has missed parts of three different seasons because of injury. Hopefully, all of that is behind him, but it won't help his trade value at all.
Johnson has the potential to be one of the top pitchers in baseball just like Teixeira was one of the best first basemen in baseball at the time, but when you add injury questions to Johnson that Teixeira clearly didn't have, the trade value is definitely different.
Many teams want Josh Johnson, but until the Marlins lower their asking price, don't expect him to move.
