US Olympic Volleyball Team: Ranking Top Men's Team Stars by Skill
The United States men's volleyball team is deep and features some big hitters. This squad will return a lot of the same faces to the London Games that led them to the gold at the Beijing Games. If they fail to repeat, it will not be due to a lack of experience.
They will have their work cut out for them. According to Bovada, they have the fifth lowest odds at 14/1 to take home the gold.
If they do win the gold, it will be thanks in large part to the next four guys.
No. 4: Reid Priddy
1 of 4Reid Priddy, 34, was a member of both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic squads. His outside hitting has been vital to both teams.
He is starting to get up there in years, but he still knows how to put the ball away with velocity and power. At the 2012 NORCECA Men's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament, he was the third leading scorer on the team.
No. 3: David Lee
2 of 4David Lee, 30, was an integral part of the 2008 gold-medal team. He is an absolute beast near the net and is one of the world's best blockers.
At the 2012 NORCECA Men's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament, he was named the Best Blocker. That was no fluke. He will be counted on to the U.S.' main blocking force in London.
No. 2: Matt Anderson
3 of 4At 25, Matt Anderson is the youngest player on the squad, and there is no question he deserves to be there. This 6'10" outside hitter can crush.
Anderson will be making his first Olympics appearance, but he has shown no signs of being overwhelmed by the big stage. At the NORCECA Men's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament, he earned "Best Spiker" honors and was the team's leading scorer.
They will need a similarly stellar performance from him here if the U.S. is going to defend their gold.
No. 1: Clay Stanley
4 of 4Clay Stanley, 34, is making his third Olympic appearance, and he is coming off an absolutely spectacular performance in the Beijing Games.
He was named the MVP, Best Scorer and Best Server in the 2008 Olympics. He is coming off of a knee injury suffered last winter but has looked strong while preparing for London.
He will reinforce his standing as one of the world's best.
