Men's 400-Meter Individual Medley Final
1 of 5Olympic swimming fans would be crazy to make plans before late Saturday night.
Rival American swimming machines Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte will be going head to head in the men's 400-meter individual medley final on Day 1 from the Aquatic Center in London.
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Lochte finished third behind Phelps in the event, taking home bronze. Phelps still owns the world record in the 400-meter medley though with a time of four minutes, 3.84 seconds.

Beach Volleyball Qualifiers
2 of 5Defending American gold medalists at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser will return to the Games this summer on the London sand.
Rogers and Dalhausser make up the top-ranked men's team at this year's Olympics, and will be favored to repeat as golf medal winners.
Fans can tune into NBC this weekend to see them make their debut in the beach volleyball qualifying matches.

Women's Soccer Group G
3 of 5Team USA will take on North Korea in a group stage matchup in women's soccer in week 1 from London.
The Americans have won Olympic gold at the past two Summer Olympics, and are the favorite to bring home the hardware again in 2012.
Team USA is currently the highest ranked squad in the world, so soccer fans shouldn't miss this opportunity to see Hope Solo and company make another march to gold.

Women's Gymnastics All-Around Finals
4 of 5Although the team competitions on the men's and women's side will take place on Monday and Tuesday in London, the excitement of the women's all-around will continue to build up until week 1 is nearly over.
A list of talents including Americans Jordyn Wieber and Gabby Douglas are expected to thrown down world-class routines in an attempt at capturing Olympic gold.
Wieber is the defending world champion in the all-around, and is the favorite to win gold, but she will face stiff competition from Russians Aliya Mustafina and Viktoria Komova as well as her Team USA partner Gabby Douglas.

Tennis Semifinals
5 of 5For tennis fans who didn't get enough at Wimbledon earlier this summer, week 1's action from London will feature the pre-final knockout rounds on the men's and women's side, providing for plenty of entertainment.
Seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer will look to capture his first Olympic gold medal at the All England Club this summer, and will be a favorite to reach the semifinals after his brilliant performance in London less than a month ago.
