Brock Lesnar: WWE Has Ruined Any Momentum Former UFC Star Had Left

Jun 2, 2018

When former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar returned to the WWE after WrestleMania 28, the entire sports world was in shock; the return of the Next Big Thing was something many fans hadn’t seen coming and didn’t think was possible.

Just a few months later, any momentum the brawler had coming into company has been completely lost because of poor booking by the WWE.

With the whole world watching the 1,000th edition of RAW, this was the time for the WWE to make their part-time star look strong for the buildup to SummerSlam. Instead, Triple H convinced the powers-that-be that he should clear Lesnar from the ring and stand tall.

Leave it to Triple H to bury anyone and everyone.

What It Means

When Lesnar returned, the feeling was that he could be this uncontrollable MMA fighter that just ran through people. Instead of allowing Brodus Clay to squash people, the WWE should have used that character development on Brock.

As much as building Lesnar as a monster is the right way of handling the star, the WWE allowed him to lose his return match to John Cena at Extreme Rules.

Add in the fact that he has done nothing but attack people who aren’t ready and was cleared from the ring Monday night, and Lesnar looks weak.

The WWE has killed any hype or momentum that may have still surrounded their big-time, free-agent star after the poor ending to his UFC career. Brock’s return has been a flop.

What’s Next?

The WWE is trying to build up to the SummerSlam match between Brock and Triple H, but having Lesnar get beat down and thrown from the ring on Monday for the 1,000th episode of RAW seems like another way for the boss’s son to get himself over.

From the looks of it, Lesnar was brought back to the WWE to be a huge name to sell events and a jobber to the biggest stars in the company.

While Lesnar may win at SummerSlam, it will be only to build him up for the run to WrestleMania where he will lose to whoever he faces.

With a loss to John Cena and the majority of the WWE Universe forgetting he was back because of the poor planning, what little momentum the former UFC star had after being banished from MMA has been crushed by Vince McMahon and Co.

As much as people should care about Lesnar vs. Triple H at SummerSlam; the WWE has found a way to make the majority of fans not think twice about this feud.

If it wasn’t for Paul Heyman, no one would care about Brock Lesnar at all.
