Jordyn Wieber: Superstar Gymnast Will Steal the Show at 2012 London Olympics
America will fall in love with superstar gymnast Jordyn Wieber this summer.
A world champion, Wieber will be representing the United States in London at the 2012 Olympics this summer, with a great shot at bringing home gold despite just turning 17.
Wieber is one of the strongest competitors at the Summer Games and will lead an American team with high hopes onto the sport's grandest stage.
Win or lose, though, Wieber's creativity and skill will steal the show in London.
A Natural Talent
Wieber was introduced to gymnastics at a young age, and her build is perfect for the sport. Wieber is much more muscular than most gymnasts, which allows her to push the limits and produce some exciting routines.
Wieber told NBC Olympics:
""I was probably two or three. My parents noticed that I had unusually bigger muscles than a typical little kid, so they put me in gymnastics. When I was four I went back [to gymnastics] and that’s kind of when I started getting really into it."
"
The best measure of a talented gymnast is his or her performance in the all-around competition. Wieber won gold in the all-around at the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo and at the 2012 St. Louis Visa Championships.
Hard Work
Wieber works harder than any gymnast on the planet, and her resume of success proves it. Wieber is a self-motivated star who has the drive necessary to be an Olympic champion and to lead when it comes time to compete as a team.
Per NBC Olympics, Wieber said:
""It makes me both excited and nervous to be one of the gymnasts to watch...but at the same time it’s a lot of motivation for my training. I just really want to go out there and do well for not only myself, but also the U.S. team."
"
Wieber is among the top gymnasts and athletes headed to London this summer, and for good reason. She works harder than most, and given her natural talent and ability to thrive in the sport, she will steal the show at the 2012 London Olympics.
