WWE: Who Should Chris Jericho Face in His Last Match?
No one seems to know what Chris Jericho’s WWE future holds.
There have been varying reports about both his long-term and short-term status with the company, with fans questioning everything from when he’ll retire to whether or not this is even his last run.
Though we usually get a good sense of a major WWE star’s future due to numerous backstage reports and rumors, the situation has been a little different when it comes to Jericho.

There is a rather big cloud of mystery hanging over the head of a man whose career has been defined partially by his ability to work the fans.
Regardless of exactly when Jericho is going to be done for good, it’s safe to say that he should go out on his own terms.
In the past, Jericho has stated that he doesn’t want the big sendoff that guys like Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels have received. Instead, he’d rather ride off into the sunset in an under-the-radar manner.
My take on the situation is this: What Jericho wants, Jericho should get.
One thing that really bothered me about the “End of an Era” match that took place earlier this year at WrestleMania 28 was that everyone involved in that feud failed to acknowledge Jericho as a part of that era.
But Jericho was as big a part of that era as anyone else, and in fact, I believe that Jericho will go down as one of the greatest stars not just from that era, but in the history of pro wrestling.
Y2J has accomplished more than 99 percent of the superstars who have ever stepped foot into a WWE ring, and when he calls it quits, he deserves to go out however he wants to.
According to WrestleZone.com, The Undertaker will be able to pick his WrestleMania 29 opponent from a list of three that includes The Rock, John Cena and Brock Lesnar.
Jericho should get that very same treatment.
Give him a list of three major names and say, “Hey, Chris. Pick one of these three guys, and you’ll face them in your last WWE match.”
As for that list, mine would look something like this: Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan and The Undertaker.
The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho is a dream match that—as shocking as this may sound—has actually only happened twice in history, which came back in late 2009 and early 2010 on SmackDown.
But as awesome as a potential battle between two of the biggest WWE stars ever could be, the dominoes aren’t falling that way.
Undertaker is likely only going to compete at WrestleMania from this point forward, and it wouldn’t be Jericho’s style to want to have his last match take place on the grand stage of WrestleMania.
It would be classic Jericho for him to end his storied career by doing what he’s become famous for: Putting someone over.
Jericho’s selflessness and willingness to lose to guys who had no business beating him (remember his historic losses to Evan Bourne on pay-per-view and Heath Slater on NXT?) has defined his career, and it wouldn’t be shocking for those characteristics to end his career, too.
That’s precisely why I think Y2J’s WWE career will and should end with a big loss to either Ziggler or Bryan.
Ziggler and Bryan are two phenomenal talents who are going to help carry the WWE when Jericho leaves and pick up where he left off.
They are going to be the workhorses—the guys who cut a great promo and then follow it up by putting on a 20-minute technical classic that leaves the crowd in awe.
Jericho’s last WWE match should be a “passing of the torch” to one of the two guys who mirror him in so many different ways.
And you can pick your poison here because both Bryan and Ziggler are so phenomenal at what they do that I don’t care which one Jericho picks.
If Y2J is going to hang up the boots for good within the next couple of months, then going out with a loss to Ziggler makes sense after a feud between those two kicked off on last week’s Raw.
But if Jericho’s going to stay around for the foreseeable future and hang around for another six months to a year, I’d slowly build to that Bryan/Jericho feud that the WWE teased just a few weeks ago.
Bryan vs. Jericho in the last match of Jericho’s career?
Yes!
