Olympics Gymnastics 2012: Competitors Team USA Must Fear in London
This U.S. women's gymnastic Olympic team may be the best squad the Americans have put together in years, but that doesn't mean that the international competition won't be there to give them a challenge.
Team USA members Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber may be two of the best gymnasts in the world, but countries like China and Russia are also bringing their best.
The competition on the mat and bars will be great to watch, whether you are cheering on a member of Team USA or one these fierce competitors.
Sui Lu, China
1 of 5A tough competitor who started training when she was only three years old, Sui Lu is determined to make a name for herself in London.
Now 20 years old, the Chinese gymnast is gearing up for what will probably her last chance at Olympic gold.
Viktoria Komova, Russia
2 of 5Viktoria Komova is like any other 17-year-old girl—her favorite food is pizza, and she is a huge Twilight fan. But unlike most girls her age, the Russian sensation is also favored to win individual gold on the world's biggest stage.
Always humble despite her already illustrious career, the international star claims her favorite memory is when she got her puppy, Kutya.
Catalina Ponor, Romania
3 of 5Winner of three golds at the Athens Games in 2004, Catalina Ponor may be one of the older gymnasts to compete in these Olympics, but the veteran is not intimidated.
The Romanian's years of dedication to the sport will shine on the mat, as she proves to her younger competitors how it's really done.
Aliya Mustafina, Russia
4 of 5Like fellow Russian teammate Viktoria Komova, Aliya Mustafina is ready to stand supreme atop the podium.
After recovering from a 2011 injury, the gymnast is confident of her abilities, recently stating (per Aliya's personal website):
""I think that the Olympics will coincide with the peak of my career, as long as I don't get injured. I will be almost 18 years old, have time to go through two world championships, and have much experience."
"
Huang Qiushuang, China
5 of 5China's secret weapon for these London Games is Huang Qiushuang. This 20-year-old presents what could be the greatest threat to the US women.
She is a great all-arounder who excels on the uneven bars—and someone to definitely pay attention to this summer.
