British Open TV Schedule 2012: When and Where to See the Action at Royal Lytham
Americans Tiger Woods and Bubba Watson have positioned themselves into contention at the 2012 British Open at Royal Lytham & St. Annes thanks to some solid first-round play on Thursday.
A three-time Open champion and Claret Jug winner, Woods began the tournament with four quick birdies on the first nine, before bogeying late to finish three-under for the day. Woods was tied for fifth place when second-round play began on Friday morning.
Fans can expect to see a confident Woods playing with a little bit more urgency on Friday, as several players—including Adam Scott and 1999 champ Paul Lawrie—posted some mighty scores in the opening round.
Defending Masters champion Bubba Watson is one of a handful of players tied for fifth heading into their second round of 18 holes at Royal Lytham. Watson had a superb first round of golf, taking advantage of par-five situations.
Look for both Woods and Watson to continue their ascent to the top of the leaderboard in the second round on Friday, as both major champions position themselves for a shot at the Open Championship this weekend.

Brandt Snedeker and the Americans Playing Well Early
American golfer Brandt Snedeker failed to bogey through the first three dozen holes at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, making good on his birdie attempts and pushing his way to the front of the pack. In addition to Snedeker, Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker and Justin Hicks have all been representing the Stars and Stripes well with brilliant play early on.
If this year's first-round play is any indication, the United States will have a great chance at crowning its first British Open champion since Stewart Cink was victorious at Turnberry in 2009. From 1995 to 2006, an American won the Open Championship all but twice. American David Duval won the British Open in 2001, the last year it was held at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. Will history repeat itself in 2012?
