The Summer 2012 Olympics in London are kicking off on Friday, July 27 and lasting through Sunday, August 12.
Great Britain wants to welcome the athletes, fans and—most importantly—the spectators from 205 different countries around the world in a big way.
The nation enlisted the help of Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle as the artistic director and brought on Rick Smith and Karl Hyde to direct the music.
There will be a reported cast and crew of approximately 10,000 performing for more than three hours during the ceremony, which will range from a recreation of the British countryside to a closing performance by Sir Paul McCartney.
