WWE Money in the Bank 2012: Continuing the Streak of John Cena Main Events
WWE Money in the Bank 2012 marked the sixth consecutive pay-per-view event in which John Cena was involved in the main event. Although this may be important to some people and not to others, it is rather redundant and non-innovative booking on behalf of WWE.
John Cena's main event list this year is as follows:
- February - Elimination Chamber: defeated Kane in an Ambulance match
- April - WrestleMania: lost to the Rock
- April (2) - Extreme Rules: defeated Brock Lesnar
- May - Over the Limit: lost to John Laurinaitis
- June - No Way Out: defeated Big Show
- July - Money in the Bank: won the WWE Championship Money in the Bank match

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Don't get me wrong—John Cena has been the face of the WWE for a number of years now. Like him or hate him, he sells merchandise and is a huge draw.
However, what makes this main-event statistic even more overbearing is that none of those matches were for a world title.
No matter how you put it, that is unacceptable.
A couple of those main events were necessary, but the majority of them were not.
Cena winning the MITB briefcase was completely unnecessary. He could have cut a promo on the next edition of Raw and been involved in the WWE title picture just like that.
Although this is technically a new achievement for him, someone winning the match who could benefit more from having the briefcase would have been far more beneficial.
With the soon-to-be advent of the three-hour Raw, now more than ever would be the best time to introduce a new breed of main eventers.
Many people had good reviews of the CM Punk/Daniel Bryan match. I believed it was a bit too gimmicky, but the level of action delivered like most expected. Therefore, it would indeed have been a more suitable main event, showcasing the most prestigious prize in the business.
Do you think the WWE has gone a bit overboard with John Cena main-eventing nearly every pay-per-view (and winning the majority of them)? Comment civilly below.
