WWE Money in the Bank 2012 Results: Dolph Ziggler Wins the Contract
So, here we go. WWE Money in the Bank 2012. The ladder match for a World Heavyweight Championship shot kicked off the night, as was to be expected.
Not because yours truly read a spoiler, not at all. I am a pro wrestling fan who likes to watch the action and still enjoys waiting to see how it will all unfold.
It was expected because WWE likes to start off pay-per-views with high-impact matches—matches that have something on the line and are extremely important to the rest of the event.
The World Title ladder match is one of those matches.
This one started off fast and furious, featuring Tyson Kidd, Christian, Sin Cara, Dolph Ziggler, Damien Sandow, Tensai, Cody Rhodes and Santino Marella, all vying for the blue briefcase dangling above the ring.
Very early on, there were a couple of scary moments, one involving Sin Cara and Ziggler landing awkwardly off the top rope. The other involved Tensai and Marella. Despite the criticisms that are sure to be thrown at these men for these spots, the fact is that it’s a dangerous match. It’s pro wrestling, and yes, anything can go wrong at any time.
Just saying.
Each man predictably kept heading for the briefcase, and the crowd definitely felt each and every climb that occurred up the ladder.
Partnerships and cooperation are rare in a match of this type, of course, but those moments did happen, though they fell apart as soon as they began.
Santino, ever the comic relief, suddenly showed some signs of being afraid of heights. That is, until the Cobra sock on his arm gave him the courage to push upward.
Yes, you read that right.
But it did not end there, as the momentum shifted back and forth for the next few minutes.
Cody Rhodes, whom many fans have seen as the future of the business for quite some time, made an effort up the ladder, but he was stopped by Vickie Guerrero, who opened the door for her man Dolph to interfere.
Christian, however, along with Kidd, chased Dolph up, and soon all three were going at it, until Tyson slammed Ziggler down hard to the mat.
Death defying? You better believe it.
The match soon broke down, as Tensai ended up being the only man on his feet, and to see a guy his size, with the strength he possesses, take it to Sin Cara, a man half his size, is huge. He slammed him unmercifully down onto a ladder.
Ziggler, who by this point had become a crash-test dummy, proved once again that he will do anything to make the match look good, as he was hurled head over heels across the broadcast table by Tensai.
Christian, with shades of Edge, speared Rhodes off the top of the ladder, and the crowd suddenly became firmly behind Ziggler.
Christian seemed well on his way to grabbing the case, until Ziggler, from out of nowhere, jumped up the ladder, and pulled the contract down.
Your winner: Dolph Ziggler.
OK. So. Dolph is, once again, poised to do it. But will he?
He’s been close so many times. He’s been viewed, much like Cody, as one of the guys who will lead WWE into the future. Is this truly his time?
Is this it?
To be honest, at this point, I don’t know. But I do have my fingers crossed.
Dolph definitely showed off tonight.
