WWE Money in the Bank 2012 Results: Dolph Ziggler Was Right Pick to Win Match

Sam R. QuinnJun 4, 2018

Dolph Ziggler, Christian, Tensai, Santino Marella, Damien Sandow, Tyson Kidd, Sin Cara and Cody Rhodes all met in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the right to a world championship contract.

Any of the eight could have won, thereby propelling their respective careers to a level that only a handful of superstars have reached, but it was Ziggler who was chosen to grab the briefcase that dangled from the ceiling of the US Airways Center before his competition.

In a match where carnage, brutality and excitement are at a premium and downtime is at a minimum, Ziggler was the best choice to win the eight-man free-for-all.

There aren't many matches that are as fun to watch as a ladder match is. What these wrestlers put themselves through to put on a show for the fans is nothing short of spectacular, albeit extremely dangerous.

Tensai was by far the most active on Sunday night, and he used his props to perfection. Ladders are by far the most harmful weapon a wrestler can use—sans a sledgehammer—and Tensai hardly strayed away from them.

Whether it was powerbombing Sin Cara into the ladder that bridged the gap between the announcing table and the ring or repeatedly smashing anyone's head into the steel ladder, Tensai did it right.

That doesn't make him the right choice to come out on top, though.

Ziggler was the smartest pick, too, in terms of marketability and overall following. He's an easy guy to build a fanbase around, and he's at the prime age (31) to finally get a shot at the world championship belt.

Cody Rhodes and Tyson Kidd are in a similar category to Ziggler, but they are missing one thing that Ziggler isn't.

That one thing is Vickie Guerrero. Yes, she's painfully obnoxious and basically intolerable most of the time, but she and her shrill, piercing voice make for a great sideshow.

It doesn't matter if you hate her—something that is really easy to do. All that matters is she provides another element to Ziggler's story.

She was perfect on Sunday night, helping to distract Ziggler's opponents while he was dragging himself across the aforementioned ladder bridge, trying to get back into the ring.

Guerrero obviously isn't the main reason why Ziggler now has a shot at the world championship title sometime down the road, but she was a big help to the cause.

The two will be around for quite some time now, especially if Ziggler is able to win the world championship when he chooses to challenge Sheamus.
