WWE Money in the Bank 2012: Preview for Sunday's Matches and Other Happenings

Voodoo MagicJun 7, 2018

WWE's Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View is upon us this Sunday.

But you already knew that.

So, in the tradition of all good journalists, let's take a look today at who's going to win on Sunday and what else might happen at the event.

You'll laugh, you'll cry (ok, maybe you won't cry), you'll learn something.

Let's get started!

Kofi & R-Truth Will Defeat Hunico & Camacho in the Dark Match

1 of 8

It's good to know that WWE is still taking their 30-Day Rule for defending championships seriously. You wouldn't want a title that has long been held by some awesome competitors and eventual world champions to be seen as a joke, right?

Hmmmm.

I like Kofi Kingston (he deserves better than this), and I like R-Truth (he should really go back to being a heel, though).

They are good tag team champions, but what have they done recently with the belts? And why are they fighting Hunico and Camacho?

Don't get me wrong, H & C are good performers, but they haven't done anything to deserve a shot at the champs (whether it's for the titles or not). And aren't the Prime Time Players the No. 1 contenders?

We should be seeing a tag title match between Crazy Boom and PTP, but maybe some other time. For now, Kofi and R-Truth will win.

Ryback Will Have a Nice Dinner

2 of 8

Ryback smash.

*grunt*

Someone take Ryback serious one day.

*grunt grunt*

We'll See Some Comedy

3 of 8

Not sure who, but someone is going to bring the funny tonight.

It'll be either Heath Slater doing a job to someone new (I'll be honest, I didn't like this new gimmick at first but he's growing on me a lot) or Brodus Clay will return to his old form and squash someone before dancing with his beautiful backup dancers.

By the way, whatever happened to Brodus's burgeoning feud with The Big Show? Remember when he got involved with Big Show-Cena and sorta-kinda caused Johnny Ace to get fired? Now he's back to squashing. Lovely.

We'll have a good laugh at someone, regardless.

John Cena Will Win His First MITB

4 of 8

I feel that this particular topic of conversation has been discussed quite a bit. I also think that all four of these guys have a puncher's chance of winning MITB, but Cena is the most likely candidate.

I know that the idea of John Cena—the gazillion-time world champ—winning the MITB briefcase may seem like overkill. But seeing as how the rumor mill has CM Punk facing Cena at Summerslam, Cena winning the briefcase seems like the most obvious course of action here.

I don't know how I feel about Cena being the first guy to fail to cash it in, but it's a possibility.

Oh yeah, and Cena winning the briefcase is going to get boo'ed.

Big Show and Chris Jericho Will Begin Sliding into Obscurity

5 of 8

I have always been a fan of Chris Jericho. Big Show has always served his purpose.

But their time is up.

If anyone is going to fall off the map after MITB, it's going to be these two.

Jericho is due to go back on tour with Fozzy at some point soon, and he really doesn't need WWE at this point; he'll probably continue to come and go for the next year or two.

Big Show? He's the one in some serious trouble. I know he has that "ironclad contract" that has set him up for life (apparently), but where is he going from here? He had his shot at being relevant one last time when he fought John Cena at No Way Out, but failed in his quest to stay a dominant big man.

Where does Big Show go from here? Maybe they'll have him feud with Brodus Clay for real. Maybe he'll get fed to Ryback. Maybe he'll just kind of hang around and disappear.

Regardless, Big Show's career is hitting the skids after MITB.

Dolph Ziggler Will Win the WHC MITB Briefcase

6 of 8

After Sin Cara won the last spot in the World Heavyweight Championship's MITB match (wait, what?) it officially eliminated Wade Barrett from making a surprise return and claiming his rightful place in the main event.

So, now that it's not going to be Barrett, it's going to be Ziggler.

There's really no one else who could justifiably take this match other than (maybe) Christian or Cody Rhodes.

Sandow and Kidd are great but they're not ready yet. Santino is a comedy act. Sin Cara is a threat to botch, get injured, or get suspended. Tensai is...Tensai.

So that leaves Mr. Ziggler as our winner. He's the most over guy in the entire bunch, he's the most ready guy in the entire bunch, and he's the most logical choice to go over.

If I had to pick a surprise, though? Don't count out Cody.

Sheamus Will Continue to Be a Dominant Fella

7 of 8

Alberto Del Rio finally gets a one-on-one shot at Sheamus. Thank goodness, I was starting to get worried.

All kidding aside, Del Rio has been doing better as of late at being more vicious, but: 1) Del Rio has been dominating Sheamus on TV recently, and traditional booking holds that this means Sheamus is going over; and, 2) WWE has invested too much time and energy into Sheamus to pull the plug already.

I imagine that this is going to a really good match, though. If Del Rio continues on the path he's on character development-wise, I can see him winning the title at some point. Just not tonight.

CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan Might Be Disappointing (for Them)

8 of 8

Whoa there, don't start flaming me yet. Hear me out.

When I say it might be disappointing, I mean that it will be disappointing as far as what these two are capable of doing. The match will likely not be the technical classic—and possible second-consecutive 5-star match for Punk at MITB—that it could be, and that is because of AJ.

I imagine that a lot of the focus of the match will be on the antics of AJ, and how Punk and Bryan react to her. Because of that, the quality of the match might suffer. However, when I say "suffer," for these two it might mean that we only see a "fantastic match" instead of "flippin' fantastic match full of awesome."

Imagine that.

These two finally get a chance to be involved in a pretty darn good storyline—and are responsible for creating one of the most interesting female characters in recent memory—and it might affect the quality of the match.

Then again, if anyone can strike a balance between storyline and fantastic in-ring action, it's CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.

Oh, and, Punk wins, leading to his feud with Cena at Summerslam.
