WWE Raw: 5 Questions Coming from Monday Night Raw

Chris FeatherstoneJul 11, 2012

The go-home show of Monday Night Raw left many people scratching their heads, wondering why certain things transpired.

The pay-per-view build was lackluster at best, but we saw another world heavyweight championship qualifier, another legend appearance and the long-awaited identity of the anonymous general manager.

As puzzled as can be, here are five questions coming from this edition of Raw.

Comments are encouraged, but keep them civil.

What Did Jack Swagger Do to Deserve This?

1 of 5

Jack Swagger has officially claimed the position of being the worst world champion of the past few years. The Miz was competing with him for this position, but Swagger is undoubtedly at the top of the list.

What did he do to deserve this? Vickie Guerrero managing him wasn't the best idea, but at least it gave him some more exposure. Guerrero leaving Swagger ended up being more damaging than most thought.

There is no reason why Jack Swagger should not be in the upper mid-card. He is one of the best pure wrestlers in the company, and the WWE is losing out on some great matches by completely burying him.

Why Not Give Drew McIntyre a Chance?

2 of 5

Within the first year of his debut in the WWE (minus his very short 2006 run), Drew McIntyre won both the intercontinental and tag team titles. He was even deemed the "Chosen One" by Vince McMahon and expected to be a certain future world champion.

What happened?

Seemingly, his dispute and divorce with former ECW GM Tiffany led to his demise as a legitimate future main-eventer. He has been nearly completely irrelevant since late 2010, and his best spot since then was getting a last minute place at WrestleMania due to Christian's injury.

Similar to Swagger, the WWE would regret letting him go.

What Was the Ending of the Cena/Kane vs. Jericho/Big Show Match?

3 of 5

The ending of the tag team match between John Cena/Kane vs. Chris Jericho/Big Show was extremely confusing.

Was it a DQ? Was it a no contest? Who knows.

I don't ever recall the referee calling for the bell after a wrestler stops the count during a match. The ending of the bout should have been put together entirely differently. As it was, it definitely left me puzzled.

Hopefully, the result of the MITB match won't leave people so puzzled.

Did You Mark Out When Bob Backlund Returned?

4 of 5

Admittedly, I sure did. Not so much an emphatic gesture, but more of a presidential clap and smile.

It was great to see Bob Backlund on Raw, and Heath Slater should definitely get a decent spot after the 1000th episode. He has done a fantastic job in this angle.

Turning 63 years old this year, Backlund was doing lunges better than people who are 40 years younger than him. He looked great. You could tell that he was savoring every moment of his return, which made it even more precious.

And that Crossface Chickenwing?

Yikes. That could have dislocated Slater's shoulder with a few more tugs.

Why Insult Our Intelligence?

5 of 5

In one of the worst payoffs in WWE history, the mystery of the anonymous general manager ended on Raw.

After all the controversy that the anonymous GM caused throughout the years, it was finally revealed to be Hornswoggle.

This couldn't have been the original idea for the anonymous GM—at least I hope not. This was an utterly horrendous decision by the WWE, and I would have rather seen the GM remain anonymous than see it turn out to be Hornswoggle.

I believe that I can speak for most of the WWE Universe by saying we felt violated.
