Ronda Rousey Body Issue: MMA Fighter Will Be Highlight of ESPN's Annual Issue
Not only could MMA fighter Ronda Rousey beat you up, but as all of America is soon about to find out, she would look really hot doing it.
America will learn about the dangerous beauty when she appears in ESPN the Magazine's Body Issue, certainly one of the highlights of the magazine's annual foray into the exploration and g of the athletic form.
Or as I like to call it, ESPN's answer to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. And yes, Rousey will be posing nude. And yes, the relevance of her appearance in the magazine goes deeper than that.
"But the Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion appearing in ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue” is much more significant to the sport than just a few attractive photos of the blonde bombshell and certain parts will, of course, be covered up.
Women’s MMA is still very much in its infant stages, especially when it comes to popularity. Rousey, though, has been a godsend—a beautiful, intelligent, charismatic fighter who also happens to be undefeated, finishing every opponent in the first round by armbar.
"
Like Hope Solo was able to do last year with her much-publicized entry into the Body Issue, Rousey will certainly bring a lot of attention to women's MMA with her appearance. That's always a good thing.
Initially, that attention will probably derive from her show-stopping beauty, but if it encourages people to learn more about her, about the sport of women's MMA, check out some of her fights and become a fan, then it makes her an ambassador for her sport.
Yes, sex sells. And it cuts both ways—Tyson Chandler will be appearing on the cover, after all.
I for one am excited to see Rousey's introduction to the mainstream sports fan, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anticipating her photos in this year's issue.
She may not be the biggest name appearing in the magazine—Chandler, Rob Gronkowski, Jose Bautista, Abby Wambach, Brad Richards, Candace Parker, Daniela Hantuchova and Maurice Jones-Drew are the most recognizable athletes—but she's going to steal the show.
And anyone that disagree will promptly be put in an armbar.
Hit me up on Twitter—my tweets dominate like the Williams sisters at Wimbledon.
